changedIn this post, we wanted to briefly share our vision for Freelands, our plans, and what you can expect from the game. First of all, Freelands is a long-term project. It combines multiple genres and aims to provide players with a long-lasting gameplay experience.
addedHow will progression work? Our first priority is to establish the RPG and Sandbox mechanics before moving on to the management aspects of the game. Freelands is being built primarily as an RPG and Sandbox experience, with management features being added later. You will be able to turn the first village you encounter into a city and increase its population over time. As your reputation grows, you will eventually reach the stage where you can establish your own kingdom. Transforming a village into a city will be relatively simple, but unlocking kingdom-building mechanics will not be easy.
addedHow will progression work?By helping villagers and completing quests, you will earn reputation and unlock new gameplay features. During this process, you will learn the game's mechanics and gain the experience needed to handle more complex systems. Along the way, you will encounter many quests, events, and enemies.
addedHow will the management mechanics work?Freelands will initially focus on its RPG elements. For this reason, management mechanics will remain fairly simple in the early versions of the game. More detailed and advanced management systems will be introduced in future updates. You will be able to manage your kingdom's storage, fulfill the needs of your citizens, adjust tax policies, and establish trade routes.
addedHow will the management mechanics work?In much later versions, features such as conquering other cities, interacting with rival kingdoms, and military management will also be added.
changedWhere are we currently in development? We are currently in the early stages of development. Our focus is on refining the RPG and Sandbox mechanics, and development is progressing faster than we expected. We are planning to launch Early Access within the next few months.

How will progression work?

Our first priority is to establish the RPG and Sandbox mechanics before moving on to the management aspects of the game. Freelands is being built primarily as an RPG and Sandbox experience, with management features being added later. You will be able to turn the first village you encounter into a city and increase its population over time. How will the management mechanics work?

Freelands will initially focus on its RPG elements. For this reason, management mechanics will remain fairly simple in the early versions of the game. More detailed and advanced management systems will be introduced in future updates. You will be able to manage your kingdom's storage, fulfill the needs of your citizens, adjust tax policies, and establish trade routes.

In much later versions, features such as conquering other cities, interacting with rival kingdoms, and military management will also be added.

Where are we currently in development?

We are currently in the early stages of development. Our focus is on refining the RPG and Sandbox mechanics, and development is progressing faster than we expected. We are planning to launch Early Access within the next few months.

Will there be different regions and cities?

Yes. Freelands will feature many different regions and cities. The current demo version includes only three cities. Our Early Access version will include more regions and cities than the demo. Additional locations such as dungeons and mining areas will also be available.

Will there be building mechanics?

Yes. You will own land where you can build structures. You will be able to construct houses, farming areas, storage facilities, and other personal buildings. You will gain access to this land long before reaching the kingdom-building stage. In addition, once you establish your kingdom, we are also considering adding building mechanics to our main city, Brindleford.

For now, these are the topics we can share with you. As always, we welcome your questions and feedback. You can contact us anytime through our email address or on the Steam forums.
