An end of year update

Hi everyone,

we thought the end of the year is a good time to give you an update on what we've been working on and what to expect for the beginning of next year.

If you’re a dev or know a bit about game dev, you’ve probably heard of the "scope creep": that moment when you keep adding "cool" ideas until the project risks collapsing under its own weight. Well… we fell right into that trap this month.

Over the last few months, we gathered tons of ideas, feedback, and new concepts and at some point, we lost focus. Thankfully, we caught it early enough. We took a step back, made some hard cuts, and refocused on the very core of what Freedome Farmers is meant to be.

Which is: a fun, stupid, over the top co-op game to enjoy with friends. Right now, we’re reworking the defense and weapon upgrade systems to make them more fun, more stupid, and also game breaking. Early tests have had us laughing so hard, and we really hope they’ll do the same for you.

On top of that, we’re adding a brand new farmer ability designed to do two very important things:

1. Add more chaos to combat phase

2. Let you show off how much better you are than your friends

This will be the main focus of development for the next month and the core content we want you to try during the next playtest.

Speaking of the next playtest, we still don’t have a definitive date just yet, sorry... Our current estimate is early February, but a few things still need to be finalized. We’ll make an official announcement as soon as we’re 100% sure.

We’re gamers too, and we hate when games announce dates only to delay them at the last minute, so we’re being extra careful not to do that.
