fixedImportant feedback and Quality of LifeEconomy - Oil and salt proved problematic to obtain because of the shop restock mechanic, and were the most common issues reported by our playtesters. We’ve already addressed it and improved on that front, but aside from that, we’ve also heard that seed prices weren't very rewarding for you to invest that much time in a greenhouse. We’re still looking into possible improvements for that part of the economy, but you can expect changes in that regard before our next playtests begin.
changedImportant feedback and Quality of LifeTutorial - There was a lot of different feedback regarding the game’s tutorials: mobile-game-like, chaotic, not enough key information, UI gets obstructed, and too much different information at a time. At the same time, the tutorial was the lowest-rated part of our game, so we understood that this was a part that needed to be improved upon.
changedImportant feedback and Quality of LifeOpening Hours and Dumplings serving - Opening hours were something that we noticed was hard to understand, and felt like it was used only to force players to use their energy, instead of something that was supposed to be a balance between time and energy management. Along with that, we want to update a bit on the cooking part of the game. We know that the ability to cook only increments of 3 dumplings at a time created a problem with orders requiring numbers not divisible by 3. Also, we want to improve on the clients' reactions - no more underselling for the same price as a full order!
changedImportant feedback and Quality of LifeWe’ve also worked on improvements in other parts of our game. The energy system has been tweaked so the world won’t lose colours as fast as it did, and it should predict energy usage more accurately. More information in the greenhouse, automatic dumpling production. These are just a taste of the changes that we’ve already made to the game.

Hello Chefs!

As you know, we’ve finished our first closed playtests, and we wanted to do a little summary. First of all, we’re extremely grateful to all of you who found time to play Foxy Dumplings - to all 1500 of you! Thanks to all the feedback we’ve gathered, we have found ways to improve our game to make it more enjoyable (Yes, we now know that oil was very problematic).

Now we wanted to address some important parts of the feedback we’ve received from our dear playtesters.

Important feedback and Quality of Life

Thanks to all of you, we could gather feedback and make changes to the game during the playtests to fix issues on the go. But some of the changes required more time and in-depth plans on how to change things.

Let’s address the bigger changes first:

  • Economy - Oil and salt proved problematic to obtain because of the shop restock mechanic, and were the most common issues reported by our playtesters. We’ve already addressed it and improved on that front, but aside from that, we’ve also heard that seed prices weren't very rewarding for you to invest that much time in a greenhouse. We’re still looking into possible improvements for that part of the economy, but you can expect changes in that regard before our next playtests begin.

  • Tutorial - There was a lot of different feedback regarding the game’s tutorialsmobile-game-like, chaotic, not enough key information, UI gets obstructed, and too much different information at a time. At the same time, the tutorial was the lowest-rated part of our game, so we understood that this was a part that needed to be improved upon.
  • Opening Hours and Dumplings serving - Opening hours were something that we noticed was hard to understand, and felt like it was used only to force players to use their energy, instead of something that was supposed to be a balance between time and energy management. Along with that, we want to update a bit on the cooking part of the game. We know that the ability to cook only increments of 3 dumplings at a time created a problem with orders requiring numbers not divisible by 3. Also, we want to improve on the clients' reactions - no more underselling for the same price as a full order!

We’ve also worked on improvements in other parts of our game. The energy system has been tweaked so the world won’t lose colours as fast as it did, and it should predict energy usage more accurately. More information in the greenhouse, automatic dumpling production. These are just a taste of the changes that we’ve already made to the game.

There’s also a bunch of small QoL changes already added to the game:

  • We added the ability to change how many products you can add to your cart in the store (No longer do you need to press 30 times to buy 30 onions!)

  • Navigation in different menus has been improved

  • Fainting no longer consumes all the resources

  • Auto-preparation consumes the same amount of resources as normal preparation

We’re working on a bunch more changes to the QoL, but we don’t want to reveal them just yet, before they’re set in stone, but we have something else prepared for today. Some of you mentioned that it’s not very hygienic for Lisa to work on her dumplings with all the fur on her paws, so we added the possibility for her to put on some gloves!

Once again, Thank You!

Thanks to you and all the time you’ve spent in our playtests, we were able to find an early way to improve Foxy Dumplings for our growing community. Without you, it wouldn’t be possible, so once again, we wanted to say a big Thank You!

We hope that you’ll be as excited for the next playtests as we are. Be sure to add us to your wishlist if you haven’t already, so you won’t lose the next opportunity to see the game for yourself.
