Fortified Space changes
Steam Summer Sale Starts June 25
If you are reading this on June 24, and you do not have your copy of Fortified Space yet, make sure to wait for the Steam Summer Sale to start, as I will be putting the game on discount!
In-Game News
Did you know you can read news articles aboard your ship? After every mission, you can walk over to the flashing tablet on the table and read what the public is saying about the mission you just finished. I thought this would be a cool little feature that shows you how your actions fit within the broader universe of the game.
Today's Regular Update includes improvements to the appearance of the news articles, and also adds the ability to scroll back and read previous articles. This way, you can properly bask in the success of past missions and won't miss out if you forgot to check the news.
Deconstruction Bug Fix
Additionally, this update includes a fix for a player-identified bug. Previously, if you spammed spacebar on a built defense, you would end up with an unintentionally high amount of refunded resources. That has now been patched. Thank you for your continued feedback.
Death Animation for Enemy Ships
I am now in the process of adding death animations to many of the NPCs in the game. I started with the enemy starships. You'll see that in the game now.
Major Update Clues
Finally, observant players will now notice a new desk in the Unified Earth Forces headquarters on Earth. This desk provides big clues as to the content of the game's first Major Update, which I hope to release soon.
I've actually been working on two Major Updates simultaneously, depending on my mood. One of them is something players have requested for a while, and the other is something I've always wanted to play. Can't wait for you all to try them.
Good hunting,
