Football Coach: College Dynasty changes
I'm so happy to announce that Football Coach: College Dynasty has finally exited Early Access and is now version 1.0! Though I will still be releasing a few more updates to the game, this means that I feel confident in the state of the game and can view it as a complete polished product, including Steam workshop and achievement integration. If you have been waiting to get into the game, there's never been a better time to start a new coaching career.
I also want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone for being a part of this Early Access journey! The feedback from the community has been invaluable to me as I worked on the game the past 2 years. So thanks again, and cheers to v1.0!
Steam Achievements:
The big change for this update is the addition of Steam Achievements. There are 68 in all, any more may be added in the future. To earn achievements, make sure you start a **new** save, and don't import players if using a league universe. Additionally, enabling 'God mode' on a save will disable achievements. Happy achievement hunting!
Trophy Rooms:
I've also added Trophy Room pages for both teams and coaches, as a fun way to see all awards and championships earned by a team/coach, with each listed individually and handy links to view more details. For a coach, this is found on their career page by clicking on the 'Trophy Room' tab below their career stats. For a team, this is found in their 'History' tab and then clicking 'Stats & Trophies'.
Coach Legacy Scores:
Along with trophy rooms, I've added a new 'Head Coach Legacy Score', which is a total score for a coach's legacy based on their career stats. This score is right above each coach's career stats on their page, and you can view all coaches and their scores on the 'Leaderboards' -> 'Coach Career Stats' page.
General polish and UI improvements:
The other changes here are mainly polish changes to get the game looking better for v1.0.0, with more information readily available for new (and existing) players. New tutorial banners are in several places, as well as new info tooltips for player archetypes, attributes, school info, and more.
You can read the full list of changes below.
Features:
Add Steam achievements (new saves only)
Add "Credits" page
Add trophy rooms for teams and coaches
Add 'Legacy Score' to coaches
Minor Improvements:
Improve and polish UI across many pages in the game
Add more tutorial banners and info tooltips for several mechanics
Change default starting year to 2025
Show warning when Steam Client is not available / overlay off
Your AD now takes OOC opponent prestige into account for win count expectations
Add button in recruiting to see uncommitted targets in the offseason
Add warning if preseason trainings are unused
Nerf development badges slightly, 8% -> 7% bonus
Make it so user team will lose OC & DC to other teams slightly less often
Fumble forcer and fumble recoverer can now be two separate players
Improve man defender assignments; CBs should match with WRs and LBs with TE/RB more frequently
Adjust late game timeout calling, don't call timeout on defense if we think other team might need the full clock
Raise classic score for big time comebacks slightly
Increase late season 5+ loss penalty in polls
Lower penalty in polls for teams that lose in their CCG (8+ team playoff formats)
Bug fixes:
Ensure practice uses formation overrides
Remove several zipcodes from generation choices
Prevent renegotiation message/dialog from showing if promoting assistant to HC
Don't carry over plays from before half flipped in the drive charts, avoid wrong team being shown for half-ending FGs
Don't show inactive boosters as 'incoming'
Fix filtering by player class in Player Attributes data tables
Allow special characters in team names for logos
Label several buttons for accessibility
Before I go, I do want to provide more information about post-v1.0 plans; I will still be releasing several updates to the game even after this update. I have a roadmap on Reddit and Discord which is updated, and I'll copy here:
Post release updates (order TBD, only listing significant features):
Mac support
Advanced scouting, fog of war, more unknowns for coaches, etc
Athlete (ATH) position for recruiting
Pro draft logic improvement to be more realistic
Customization around CCGs and division formats
Ability to "watch"/simulate CPU games before yours
Weather system for outdoor games
Coordinator mode
The features above are subject to change, and there's no guarantee they will be done in that order. My main priority will be getting the Mac release out, but beyond that is TBD.
Thanks for playing!
