New Paper’s Cut Edition (1.0.3 Update) and early players rewards.

addedHi everybody, It’s been a while since the last update, but that only means that the upcoming 1.0.3 version of Flat Kingdom will contain quite a lot of improvements and fixes, so many that we decided to rebrand the whole game as Paper’s Cut Edition, due to launch on next 22nd of June. We collected the feedback from players and industry professionals and did our best to come up with as many improvements as we could add during the last month and a half. That’s a tight schedule, especially when you compare it to the 27 months of development time behind of the whole project, Fat Panda Games has been dedicated to improve all the aspects in the game, from narrative to visuals, gameplay, some enemies’ design, we’ve localised the game to Russian and German (thanks to Evgenia Tarasova and Marcel Weyers) and even improved several sounds and added new ones (thanks to Yoho Arsenal). The most relevant and visible change in this update relies on the main character of the game. We know it’s not normal to redesign main characters, but after talking to players and game developers from our community, we discovered that Flat needed an evolution to improve its consistency and personality into one that fits better with the narrative context and aesthetics of Flat Kingdom. Now we really feel this is the Flat that really belongs to our world. Hope you like it too. We’ll publish an article during the upcoming weeks with an analysis about the whole creative process behind this unusual, but necessary, change.

### Added

  • New and improved animations for expressions and special moves of Flat (i.e. stomp).

  • Flat is now more agile, specially when jumping and gliding (faster stomping/super stomping, he can jump even when he’s trapped in a corner, Glide doesn't get interrupted when Flat collides with a wall).

  • Added full localization to Russian and German.

  • New intro-tutorial sequences explaining in more detail about Flat past and each character's role.

  • Improved combat tutorial, more progressive and clear.

  • New and improved FX sounds (run, steps, mischievous plant, switching shapes, gameover, steps).

  • Added Logitech F310 gamepad support.

  • We added signals indicating deathly pits.

  • The game displays the number of collected coins on the upper right corner of the screen when Flat is close to a merchant.

  • Added gamepad and keyboard button/key remapping option.

  • We added a combat guide in the UI that often reminds you the relationships between the shapes and which one beats the other (this hint can be disabled at your choice).

  • Now you can check in the world map how many scrolls are left in each world, this will be a great help for those of you trying to get to 100%!

### Changed

  • New character design for Flat, adding brand new switching shape effects.

  • Camera follows Flat at the same speed when running.

  • Selecting the Continue option from the main menu now spawns you on the last checkpoint you activated (within a level) instead of the world map.

  • Some enemies designs have been improved: Roundowls, stonesnails and grumpeels.

### Fixed

  • Fixed small bugs in bosses: Quetzal, Fenrir, Kraken.
