First Session changes

changedI will continue to keep you informed of any developments as soon as I have something concrete to share.

It’s been over a year since my last message, and I wanted to give you an update. As I explained back then, my priority had become my family situation. In the months that followed, things became even more complicated.

My wife, Aude, gradually lost the little vision she had left due to cataract opacity. Given her already fragile condition, the surgeons decided to wait until the cataract was fully opaque before operating, to delay the procedure as long as possible. They also prepared a corneal graft as a backup, in case her already weakened cornea could not withstand the surgery.

Between June and October, she was completely in the dark. During that period, I continued to act as a full-time caregiver. Very practically, this left me no time to work on The Inspector or Wild Dose. The surgery finally took place in October. Fortunately, it went well, and her vision gradually returned. After about five months of recovery, she currently struggles to reach a visual acuity of around 1/12.

This is far from normal vision, and she still needs my help for most daily activities. But she has regained a small degree of autonomy, and that makes a big difference. It now allows me to dedicate a little time to development again, slowly but steadily.

I had hoped to mark the five-year anniversary of First Session with a more ambitious edition. In the end, I was only able to release a patch for the occasion. It wasn’t what I had imagined, but it was important for me not to let that milestone pass without doing something.

The situation remains fragile, and my time is still limited. I cannot yet announce a full resumption of production or set any schedule. But unlike last year, I am now able to make some progress again, even if it is at a modest pace.

Above all, I want to thank you for your patience, understanding, and the many messages of support received since my last update. They have meant more than you can imagine.

I will continue to keep you informed of any developments as soon as I have something concrete to share.

Thank you for still being here.
