Firewall Breaker changes
๐ Performance Update
The backbone of this update is a complete rewrite of the packet physics engine. We can now simulate thousands of on-screen packets far more smoothly.
Noticeable FPS gains on lower-end PCs
Reduced stuttering on builds with high fire rate and high packet count
Sudden hitches during wave transitions are gone
Lower overall memory usage and a more stable play experience
โจ Reworked Visual Feedback System
The visual feedback for all 13 weapons has been rebuilt from scratch. Launching, bouncing, and detonating packets now feels much more impactful.
Custom launch / bounce / death animations for every weapon
More readable and more satisfying hit feedback
Extra visual effects for special-mechanic packets like Trojan, Split, and Zero Day
When Lesser Effects mode is enabled, damage numbers are now hidden as well โ a fully minimal visual experience for low-spec devices
๐ 3 New Statistics Panels
We've added a brand new statistics system so players can track their progress and build performance in much more detail.
Meta Statistics โ All-time data accumulated on your account (total packets fired, total damage, total obstacles destroyed, etc.)
General Statistics โ A summary of your current run
Wave Statistics โ Detailed performance breakdown for every individual wave (damage per weapon, packets used, rewards earned) Steam post image
๐ฅ Damage Number Improvements
Damage numbers that pop up when you hit obstacles have been redesigned.
A reasonable per-frame cap based on obstacle type โ preventing screen spam and performance drops in heavy combat
Continuous-contact weapons (like MITM) now use an accumulating damage indicator: a single number grows in value over time
Improved pool management โ no stutter even when damage numbers spike
๐ก Packet Tooltip System
Detailed tooltip boxes appear when you hover over a packet
Stats, mechanics, and special effects are now clearly explained
New players can make much more informed weapon choices
โ๏ธ Balance Changes
Fire Rate Hard Cap
Fire rate bonus is now capped at +600%. Every 1% of fire rate beyond the cap is converted into +0.25% packet damage.
Fire rate investments under the cap continue to work exactly as before
Builds that exceed the cap don't lose value โ excess fire rate translates directly into damage
This change protects performance while keeping "fire-rate stacking" strategies viable
Fire Rate Upgrade Curve
Fire rate upgrades now start at +5% instead of +10%
The progression curve has been reworked for a smoother, more meaningful upgrade path at higher tiers
Mythic Item Economy
Source Code of Universe multiplier value reduced from 0.7 to 0.3
Mythic items now sit in a healthier balance position relative to other rarities
๐ Bug Fixes & Other Improvements
Fixed rare error messages that occurred during wave transitions
Fixed double-despawn issue in the pooling system (especially on heavy firewall deaths)
Fixed audio cooldown behavior that prevented the same sound effect from spamming
Wave cleanup now waits for all packets' death animations to finish before starting the next wave โ clean transitions
Thanks for playing โ we'd love to hear your feedback on the Steam Community page! ๐ฎ
