Last time we met, we revealed more about the next update Tides of Vygor is rolling toward FINAL FURY like a cosmic freight train.

Today we want to dig deeper into what that actually means for you once you step back into the arena. This coming update is the biggest leap forward the game has taken since Early Access launched, and it marks the start of a brand new era for combat.

To summarise, Tides of Vygor will bring:

A NEW ERA OF COMBAT BEGINS

In our last blog, we teased the arrival of Vygor and what it will bring to FINAL FURY. Vygor is a brand new resource that fuels the offensive potential of every fighter. This is the same volatile energy that shapes entire worlds across the FINAL FURY galaxy, and now you get to wield it in the arena.

When you execute your fighter’s Vygor Skills, you can turn a good opening into a match-defining moment. Each character will use this energy differently, which gives you exciting new ways to pressure opponents, escape danger, or secure the win. It’s a toolset that opens up new tactical routes for every fighter.

We are also raising the skill ceiling by introducing a new axes of combat: jumping and dive kicks. These add verticality, mix-ups, evasive options, and air-based aggression.

With any new system, we wanted to ensure it was balanced; to that end, we added the uppercut move too, enabling you to defend your airspace! Once you combine this with the new Vygor system the game takes on a fresh rhythm and we cannot wait to see what you do with it.

This is the next evolution of FINAL FURY and the perfect moment to introduce a brand new competitive structure, which brings us to our next topic….

RANKED EVENTS — A WEEKEND BATTLEFIELD

When you drop a major new combat system into FINAL FURY, you need a proving ground worthy of it. Our answer is Ranked Events, a rotating weekly gauntlet designed to let players test their skills and climb their way into glory.

These events run every weekend, from Friday to Sunday. Each one has a theme, a flavor, and its own place in the lore of FINAL FURY. Some celebrate moments in the real world. Others will push our universe forward and reveal sparks of story you have not seen before. They are also fully tunable on our side which gives us room to experiment based on your feedback.

So how does it work?

  • Players compete over the duration of the event.

  • Wins and rare double KO draws earn points.

  • Losses subtract a small number of points.

  • Your total score determines your Division.

At the end of each weekend you will land in one of the following groups.

  • Unranked

  • Champion

  • Gold

  • Silver

  • Bronze

Anyone can reach Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Unranked. The catch? There is only one Champion. That title goes to the highest scoring fighter of the entire event. If multiple players tie, the winner is decided by consistency. The Champion earns a special cosmetic that nobody else can obtain. Gold, Silver, and Bronze each have their own unique rewards too.

And don’t worry if you are still learning the ropes. Even Unranked players get something for participating. One match is all it takes.

Every Champion will eventually be immortalized in our in-development Hall of Fame inside the game. In future, when you win a weekend ranked event, you leave your mark on FINAL FURY forever.

As we continue to build out this system, we plan to introduce novelty events and tournaments too. Maybe a Glitch only sudden death event. Maybe a night where only dive kicks matter. THE AVATAR SYSTEM — BECOME SOMEONE IN THE ARENA

When you step into FINAL FURY right now you exist as something undefined. A presence. A pair of floating hands. A fighter without a face. We want to change that with our new Avatar System.

This is the first step toward giving you an identity inside the game that other players can see and react to. Your Avatar is built on an old internal concept that had been sitting in our vault for quite a while. We took that early design, refined it, polished it, and turned it into the foundation for your in-game representation.

Avatars will have multiple gear slots, allowing you to customize your look with different pieces and chromas. Think of them as your personal expression layer, totally separate from our fighters. Some combinations will look amazing. Some will be outright cursed. Both are valid choices.

Each Ranked Event will offer cosmetics for your Avatar based on your Division for that weekend. Collectors can chase the full set. Competitors can fight their way to the top to earn the rarest pieces. You can mix and match cosmetics from different event collections too, and we are excited to see what creative looks the community comes up with.

Your Avatar will appear in several places throughout the game, and we plan to expand that visibility in future updates. This is only the beginning. As Early Access continues, we will keep adding more cosmetics, new frames, and new tools for self-expression.

THE TIDE NEARS

We hope you enjoyed this deeper look at Ranked Events and the new Avatar System. This is only a taste of what Tides of Vygor is bringing to FINAL FURY.
