I teamed up with artists to make an actual game!

Unlike Farming Engine which was published as a template / proof of concept, this next project is going to be a full-feature game with open world, crafting, and cute animals trying to defend their land from human invaders. Woodland Rebels is a 2D survival game that incorporates some colony sim elements. We will even release a free demo so that you don't need to spend anything to try the game.

So what is it about?

In Woodland Rebels, you can choose to play as one of the available species: rabbit, wolf, moose, squirrel, bird, duck, bear, or turtle. Each one having their own strengths. When you start, your character is placed inside a randomly generated world to test how long you can survive. You will face many dangers, such as humans, bugs, ghosts, hunger, natural disasters, and harsh weathers. Can you overcome all of them?

Town & Villagers

As you explore the world, you will quickly encounter animal towns. Those are small settlements where a few NPC animals decided to live. Town animals have tasks that they would like to accomplish. Complete those tasks and your relation with the town will improve. But careful, attacking the villagers or stealing from their chest will reduce the relation. If it is too low the villagers will start attacking you!

Villager Roles

Once your relation is at least friendly, you can start assigning roles to villagers. Villagers with roles will perform tasks automatically to help the town. It's important to assign the roles properly in a town otherwise the villagers may lack food or other resources that they need, which will decrease their mood. Villagers with good mood are better at fighting, will give you better trade deals, and work faster!

Fight Human Invaders

Once your relation with a town is at least "ally". You can recruit some of the villagers to join your rebellion. Those villagers can be summoned in battle by blowing the rebellion horn.

Explore Various Biomes and Secret Locations

The world is split into different types of biomes such as forests, wetlands, prairies, beaches, and more. But you will also find cave entrances in the world that let you explore the underground, or even ancient abandoned temples. Those underground locations are much more dangerous, but also contain many treasures.
