Factory Life changes
Hello, Manufacturers!
The end of this month has been incredibly hot... both literally and figuratively. While a good portion of the work went into less exciting technical improvements, there are also plenty of interesting things to share.
This month, I focused on improving storage systems for warehouse workers, refining their behavior, adding new products, and reworking one of the game's mechanics. But let's get into that one in a moment... 👀
📋 Smarter Storage for a Growing Factory
The storage system has received some much-needed love. We’ve replaced the cramped crates with larger boxes placed on storage shelves. Why the change? It mainly comes down to optimization. We’re planning for Factory Life to grow into a much bigger game, and more items mean more resources being used behind the scenes. This new system helps keep performance under control as your factory expands.
The new storage boxes can also be assigned to specific item types using labels. This will become especially important once your factory is filled with NPC workers, allowing them to organize and retrieve components much more efficiently.
📦 A Better Way to Store Shipments
Finished product packages have also received a small but useful upgrade. From now on, they can be stored in dedicated storage racks that clearly display what's inside, making it much easier to organize outgoing shipments and quickly find the package you're looking for.
🚛 Keeping the Factory Moving
Warehouse workers will be responsible for moving items around the factory. They’ll transport packages to and from the delivery zones, as well as bring component crates to the workstations that need them, keeping the entire production line supplied.
For now, though... It's been so hot lately that they’re taking a well-deserved break. ☀️😄
🧩 Components as Building Blocks
Until now, every product had its own unique set of components. While this worked in theory, it created a lot of issues — especially with storage — and, more importantly, it risked making the gameplay feel repetitive and tedious over time.
We’re now working on a small rework of the assembly system. Components will become more generic, similar to crafting building blocks in other games, where a single type of material (like wood) can be used across different items, such as an axe or a pickaxe.

🧸 New 3D Models
You can already take a look at the new models – a Tamagotchi and a calculator that you’ll be able to assemble in-game. These will be relatively simple products, introduced to add more variety at the early stages of running your factory.
💬 Wrapping Up
That’s everything for this month’s update! A lot of groundwork has been laid for the systems that will support a much larger and more complex factory in the future.
As always, we’d love to hear your thoughts — what do you think about the direction the game is heading and the changes to storage, workers, and components? Let us know in the discussion threads 👀
And one more thing — stay hydrated during this heatwave ☀️💧
