addedOver the last couple weeks I worked on major gameplay elements for Exitless . But while testing the current state of the game, I wasn't really satisfied with how it felt to explore the mazes. You would start at the safe zone and enter a randomly generated maze from there. Then you would explore the maze and look out for NPCs and special locations. Over time the monster would get more and more aggressive so you would have to find your way back to the safe zone. Now you could decide to switch to a different area type (hallway, cave, hedge labyrinth) and explore a completely different and new maze. This lead to no real progression because every time you enter the maze, you start from scratch. Now there are 9 different sections (still the 3 different area types) that get generated at the start of the game. In each section there are set rooms and locations the player can find. This feels much nicer to play because you can now learn the maze layout over time, leave your hints and always find the way back to a specific location. The main goal stays the same - you have to progress through all 9 sections to retrieve the 3 Dreamstones and ESCAPE !
