Repeated intro
Hello Folks!
What changed
- Compatibility
- Gameplay
I know some of you are already waiting for the next update to get some ore features into the game, but testing takes quite a lot of time - so to make this process a little bit quicker I decided to introduce a Beta-Branch.
What is the Beta-Branch?
Whenever I do changes, I will first update them into the Beta-Branch, so however is fine with accepting a bug here and there in exchange to get the next changes earlier can now opt in to use the Beta Branch instead of waiting for the changes going official. This may also be used to "test" different features and give feedback about them without disturbing the main branch - which should just be the latest really stable version.
How to access the Beta-Branch?
In your library, right click on Exipelago, go to Properties and you should see a "Beta" Tab there, click on it and in the dropdown, select "alpha04". Steam will then download the latest Beta Branch and you can play that instead.
Be aware, that changes in the beta-branch are only communicated in the games discord, so if you are interested in these, please consider joining the discord (see link further down)
Will the Beta-Branch be compatible?
I do try to keep every update compatible with each version, just be aware, that a savegame/item/whatever made with the Beta-Branch may NOT be compatible with an earlier stable branch. But once a Beta-Branch is released into stable, your savegames should be totally fine.
That said, I do not recommend using anything workshop related while using the Beta-Branch. It may work out just fine, but it may also just break things. So in case you are interested in content creation I really urge you to only use the stable branch.
Join the community
Of course the Beta-Branch is untested and is mainly tailored for those who want to participate in the process, so join the games discord and let me know what you think about the features you find in the Beta and if you want them to be different or if you love them or just whatever. Hope to see you there!
Current changes alpha04-Beta
This version comes with updated frameworks of all sorts - you may be greeted with a prompt to install .net desktop framework (.Net 6.0+) in order to run it.
There is already a new block shape in that build (inverted ramp) and the dormitory zone now shows the usage of beds in that dormitory - something which may get more relevant in a future update
