PARAGON STORY is the spiritual successor to EXCALIBURIAN!!

I couldn’t have made PARAGON STORY without the invaluable feedback I received from you all on EXCALIBURIAN!! For that, I extend my deepest thanks.

What began as a collection of ideas in EXCALIBURIAN!! has grown and been refined into a fully realized RPG experience in a new engine. While EXCALIBURIAN!! was the first step, PARAGON STORY expands upon its foundation to become a far more ambitious adventure.

The story follows a fisherman's son who comes of age and learns that he is destined to defeat the Demon King. What begins as a familiar tale later unfolds in unexpected ways, with revelations best experienced firsthand. You'll have to play to discover where the story leads.

Building upon the foundation established by EXCALIBURIAN!!, PARAGON STORY introduces expanded gameplay systems and a much broader scope.

  • Turn-based command battle system with assignable tactics and an agility-based "Quick Turn!" advantage system

  • Monster transformation system with 200+ collectible monster hearts

  • Party-swapping wagon system

  • Enmity management system

  • Day-night cycle

  • Nonlinear progression

  • Story-defining marriage choice

  • Class hybridization system

While I’m targeting a late 2026 to early 2027 release, I plan to submit a demo for the October 2026 Steam Next Fest. I hope you’ll give it a try then. In the meantime, please follow me on Twitter/X and Bluesky for development updates.

In addition, as a celebration of this announcement, I’ve released a few minor updates to EXCALIBURIAN!!

Please find the changes listed below.

  • Updated the game's underlying framework (NW.js v0.112.0) to improve optimization and compatibility across 32-bit and 64-bit systems.

  • Fixed a rare issue that could cause character sprites to be offset by one pixel.

  • The fullscreen mode setting now persists between sessions. Previously, the game would always start in windowed mode.

  • The window color setting now persists between sessions. Previously, the game would always start with the green window color.

  • When starting the game for the first time, the default volume settings are set to 50% instead of 100%. Additionally, the volume can now be adjusted in increments of 10%, whereas previously it could only be adjusted in increments of 20%.
