changedPerformance & optimization 🐇First, as the main (and only!) programmer on the game, I want to apologize to anyone getting those slowdowns. I did my best to optimize as much as possible before launch, but with our deadlines looming, not every optimization could make it in time. I fully intend to keep optimizing the game post-launch to alleviate those as much as possible.

Thank you! 🙏

What a week! From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank our players, streamers and critics for this wonderful launch. We’re overjoyed that Été is sitting at 100% positive reviews on Steam and that you all seem to be having a great time coloring Montreal!

What’s next? 👀

Now that the baby bird is out of the nest, we wanted to take a moment to let you know what our next steps are. In the coming weeks and months, there will be patches and updates to improve the Été experience.

Our priorities will be, in this order:

  1. Fixing bugs, starting with anything critical

  2. Optimizing the game’s performance

  3. Quality of life features and tweaks

Let’s cover each of these!

Bug fixing & reporting 🐞

Thankfully, the bugs that have been reported since launch seem to be mostly minor, but we’ll get started on fixing them right away! Note that we will always prioritize bugs that are “critical”, that is, anything that prevents you from progressing in a quest or story, for example.

We’ll add a “Known Issues” sticky post to the Steam Discussions so you can follow our progress.

The Steam Discussions is also a great place to report any new bug you find!

Performance & optimization 🐇

We heard you: Été has some performance issues. The main culprits that have been reported are loading times between scenes and FPS stutters, especially when the time of day changes.

First, as the main (and only!) programmer on the game, I want to apologize to anyone getting those slowdowns. I did my best to optimize as much as possible before launch, but with our deadlines looming, not every optimization could make it in time. I fully intend to keep optimizing the game post-launch to alleviate those as much as possible.

My main goals will be to:

  • Reduce loading time between scenes - Stabilize the FPS in highly detailed areas - Eliminate (hopefully!) the stutter when time of day changes - Reduce the RAM & VRAM usage of the game

In the meantime, here are some performance tips:

  • Don’t play on 4K resolution if you don’t have a high-grade PC; switch to 1080p - Disable V-Sync to improve framerate stability - Reduce graphics settings to mid/low

Quality of life ✨

Once bugs have been fixed and performance has been improved, we’ll have time to focus on quality of life features & tweaks. We already have a few ideas in mind from seeing people play in streams in the past week, but we’d love your input! If you have ideas for small changes to the game that could make your experience more enjoyable, please share them with us!
