What changed
- UI and audio
- Gameplay
- Fixes
With this update, the much-requested Options Panel is now available as an in-game feature (hit the keyboard letter “O” at any time to open the panel). By lowering graphics settings in the Option Panel, lower specification hardware can now run the game.
As a result, the minimum memory requirements were lowered to 8GB RAM, and the GPU requirement was reduced to a 1050Ti/4GB VRAM (or equivalent). With all graphics settings set to Low, the game is playable with a GTX 960M, or a GT 1030, but with those GPUs, performance can drop below 30 FPS, and sometimes below 20 FPS. (See the pinned discussions topic for additional info).
The options panel allows adjustments for:
Frame Rate Limit and Resolution Scaling
Audio settings for footsteps, ambient, menu room music and drone buzz
Mouse sensitivity and Y-Axis inversion
Graphics settings for View Distance, Anti-Aliasing, Post Processing, Shadows, Textures, Foliage (which includes grass), Effects, and Field of View
By dialing down graphics settings in the options panel, the game should now run with a consistent framerate in the 30-60 FPS range (more often in the 60 FPS range) on a system with 8GBs of memory, and a GTX 1050Ti, 4GB VRAM.
Also included in this update - the teleport clouds were adjusted to be less graphically challenging (though they are still intense for now).
In addition, the streaming level logic was adjusted to hopefully eliminate an intermittent problem a couple of players had falling through the world (a layer did not load properly so there was nothing for them to stand on – hopefully fixed now).
A future update will include ability to run in windows (versus full screen) with lower resolution.
As usual, if you find a bug or have any feedback whatsoever on the options panel or the game itself, please send an email to support@sonoma.games.
Thanks,
Joe
