changedMost core features are working, and all official rooms should be fully playable, although you may still encounter some awkward object rotations or issues with very small items. A few larger features are still missing, including visible player hands and character models, while community-made rooms are currently not supported and may be completely broken. We have included a wide range of VR options in the Settings menu, so make sure to explore them and find the movement, comfort, and interaction setup that best suits your preferred VR playstyle. This open beta also includes several long-awaited fixes, primarily for the Room Editor, many of which were made in preparation for the upcoming Build-a-Room competition. More on that later today!

We can finally announce that the Escape Simulator 2 VR Preview is now available through the [c]open_beta[/c] branch on Steam!

We have been working on VR support for quite some time, and we are now ready to show you what we have built.

This is still an early preview version, and we need your help to make it better. Some interactions, controls, visuals and performance may still need additional work, but the main goal of this preview is to let you try the game in VR and share your experience with us.

Your feedback will help us prepare the full free Escape Simulator 2 VR Update, which is currently planned for release by the end of this year.

Most core features are working, and all official rooms should be fully playable, although you may still encounter some awkward object rotations or issues with very small items.

  2. Right-click the game and select Properties.

  3. Open the Betas tab.

  4. Select [c]open_beta[/c] from the beta participation menu.

  5. Allow Steam to download the beta update, version (v21790 or newer)

  6. Start the game with your VR headset connected.

You can return to the regular public version at any time by selecting None in the Betas menu.

Help Us Improve It

We would especially like to hear your feedback about:

  • VR controls and interactions;

  • movement and comfort options;

  • grabbing and using objects;

  • puzzle usability in VR;

  • performance;

  • bugs or objects that behave incorrectly; and

  • anything that feels uncomfortable, confusing or difficult to use.

All feedback is valuable, whether it is a detailed bug report or a quick comment about how something feels.

You can send your feedback through our official Discord server (#ES2_VR_Preview) or by email: community@pinestudio.com

When reporting a problem, please include your headset model, PC specifications and a short description of what happened. Screenshots, videos and reproduction steps are also very helpful.

Please remember that this is a beta version. Keep your game and room files backed up, and expect that some features may change before the full release.

Thank you for helping us make Escape Simulator 2 a better VR escape-room experience.

We hope you enjoy the preview!
