Escape from the Nursing Home changes
Today I will tell you about a new mechanic - playing sports.
Gameplay changes
Based on the results of analysis of players' walkthrough the demo version, we decided to change the system of "fatigue" and stamina. In the game, among other needs, there is a need to rest. It is difficult for us to stand on our feet for many hours, and the main character of our game is an oldster, it is even more difficult for him. So, sometimes you need to sit down and rest. You can relax at lunch, during a nap, play chess or just sit on a bench.
So, what does the need to rest affect? Oddly enough, to stamina. And specifically on the "length" of the stamina bar. It can also be called a "stamina maximum". For example, if you have not rested for a long time, you will be able to walk a shorter distance before your stamina runs out. (Not yours, you're not an old man... probably...)
-Stamina bar
Moments that I personally did not like when watching the demo walkthrough by other people:
The stamina bar was too small when "fatigue" value is zero. So small that you can only take a few steps.
Slow stamina regeneration. If you have spent all the stamina, then it regenerates too slowly. This is especially noticeable when the "fatigue" need value is full. (Stamina bar length is maximum)
Fast "fatigue" decrease, even with slow walking.
We decided to improve it:
Raise the minimum stamina at full "fatigue" value (the stamina bar has become longer).
Stamina regenerates exponentially. So, if you have a VERY long stamina bar (for various reasons), you will not have to wait long for it to be refill.
Limit the maximum value of "fatigue". (more on this later)
Greatly reduce the "fatigue" value degeneration when walking. And reduce the fatigue value degeneration when walking fast.
-Needs and maximum lock fatigue
The mechanics of sports.
As I wrote earlier, we have limited the maximum value of "fatigue". In the new version, at the start player will have 50% of the maximum "fatigue" value available. Thus, the player will start with less stamina than before the changes. But as I wrote earlier, the degeneration of the "fatigue" value will be less, so it will lead to a more comfortable game at the beginning. But that's not all!
You have the opportunity to maximize the "fatigue" value. This will make it possible to have rest less often, and walk longer without a break (The greater the value of "fatigue" - the longer the stamina bar). So to increase the maximum value of "fatigue", you only need to exercise regularly in the gym. Cycling is just as important as strength training. But don't forget to eat healthy food!
-Oldsters ride the stationary bikes
