Hi everyone! My name is Alexey, and I’m a solo developer working on Escape from Area 51.

There’s no big studio behind this project — I’m building the game on my own. Friends help with testing, sometimes share models, and I rework a lot of assets from open sources to match the game’s style. Recently, a composer joined the project and is now writing music based on references — and it’s really bringing the world to life.

I started learning game development about three years ago. Before that, I spent many years working with graphics, scripts, filming, directing, and editing for film and television. Because of that, I care a lot about atmosphere, cutscenes, and dialogue — I want Escape from Area 51 to feel like cinematic sci-fi you can actually play.

The idea began with the main character — I created him myself. First he existed as a drawing, then I brought him into 3D. My experience with Blender and UE5 helped me turn the concept into something playable pretty quickly.

From the character, the story started to grow: the hero has to escape from a secret facility. And honestly — there’s hardly a better place for that than Area 51. 🙂

The hero has abilities like shape-shifting and reading minds. From there the story expanded into themes like: • conflict between generations • a powerful AI • mysteries hidden inside the base • government conspiracies • the secrets of Area 51 itself

The script keeps evolving, and I’m excited to share this journey with you.

👉 If the project looks interesting to you, please add Escape from Area 51 to your wishlist — it’s free, and it helps a lot during development.

And I’d love to hear from you: what would you like to see next — more about the character, the mechanics, or how I create cutscenes?
