En busca de la libertad changes
We want to start with a huge THANK YOU: the Steam Next Fest was an incredible success for us, and the reviews you left during the demo have been essential. We read them carefully, and many of your observations have already turned into concrete tasks in development. This update explains what we’ve fixed, what we’ll do next, and how we’ll keep the line of communication open with the community.
Attention: These updates will impact the final version. The demo will NOT receive an update.
What we’ve already fixed (thanks to your reviews)
Enemy and projectile hitboxes. This was the main issue many players pointed out in the demo. We reviewed and improved collision points and hitboxes for both projectiles and enemies. Impacts now feel more consistent and punchy.
Platforms and jumps. We received many comments about confusing jumps or platform placements that made it hard to see the player. We adjusted geometry and detection so jumps and positioning are clearer and more predictable.
Audio fixes. We made targeted fixes to audio that sounded distorted or had noticeable volume differences to achieve a more balanced sound experience.
Map boundaries. Several players found ways to leave the map. We already applied fixes to close unintended paths, but we need to be even more specific — that’s why we’ll try to contact players who reported these cases to coordinate details and close any remaining loopholes.
We want to hear you more closely
Our team will try to reach out to some users who left detailed reviews to arrange meetings or chats (voice, text, or video) so we can get more precise information. The goal is to reproduce exactly the scenarios you experienced and adjust what’s necessary. We also reiterate that we will continue reading all reviews, so if you’d like us to contact you, leave a contact method in your review or reply to this announcement so we can coordinate.
About things we decided not to change (and why)
Some criticisms targeted elements that our team considers intentional or that would require major script/structure changes. In those cases we prefer not to modify them now because they are part of the narrative vision or because fixing them would mean reworking a significant portion of an already-advanced script. This is a design decision made after evaluating impact and coherence with the experience we want to deliver.
What phase is the game currently in?
We are finalizing the design and atmosphere of all levels.
Significant narrative changes were implemented to strengthen coherence and pacing.
We had to do a recast of a voice actor (the previous actor who voiced Manu decided to leave for personal reasons), which required re-recording many lines. Manu
We are working to make the experience more dynamic: adding animations for magazine/weapon swaps and visual variants (for example: Blaster, fire, electricity), more breathing and combat reactions, and polishing transitions so everything feels fluid.
We want to be honest: the departure of a voice actor took time and may affect deadlines if similar issues arise. We prefer to be upfront about this rather than give false certainties.
Schedule and funding
This project is being developed independently (without external funding for now). We’re grateful to everyone who follows us: your feedback, your reviews, and your sharing are what keep us moving forward. The estimated release window is late August or September, but this may vary depending on circumstances (for example, what happened with the voice actor or other production contingencies). We will always inform you transparently if anything changes.
Again: thank you so much for playing, commenting, and taking the time to write honest reviews. Every review helps us improve and motivates us to keep going. If you left a detailed review and want to collaborate more closely, reply to this announcement or send us a direct message on Steam and we’ll get in touch.
With love, gratitude, and the desire to keep building this together, — the team at Pierucci Studios ♥
