Goldenhaven, the Port Blessed by Gold
Steam post image Perched at the edge of the Valdorion Peninsula, with the vast ocean at its back, Goldenhaven is a wealthy port city where countless trade routes converge.
Waterways flowing from the sea cut deep into the fortress, winding through the village, the halls, and the main castle. With its gold-adorned towers and soaring rooftops piercing the sky, this city has long flourished, known to all as the "Port Blessed by Gold.”
At the heart of this prosperity stood House Harborwell. As a collateral branch of the royal family, the Harborwells led the pro-monarchy lords of the kingdom with their potent bloodline magic and generations of accumulated wealth and honor. They were the strongest pillar supporting the throne.
But when the elves landed on Rinea in search of a new continent, they targeted House Harborwell first, the central pillar of the pro-monarchy faction, in order to bring down the forces that protected the royal family.
Lord Valdemar Harborwell fell to an elven scheme, and the Goldenhaven fortress—the very site of the succession ceremony—crumbled overnight under a sudden assault by the elves.
That day, the Phoenix banner of Goldenhaven fell into the flames. All seemed lost... until a single survivor emerged.
The Protagonist
An illegitimate child of House Harborwell, rulers of the Valdorion Peninsula and the Goldenhaven fortress.
Though you never knew your mother, your two older brothers loved and cherished you, the much younger sibling. Driven by a desire to experience the wider world, you eventually left the Goldenhaven fortress to become a mercenary.
In the band of mercenaries, you encountered Executioners, Spectral Blades, and Stormbringers, eventually choosing one of the three paths and growing into a respected mercenary.
The day you returned to Goldenhaven after hearing of your father's passing, you were met with tragedy—the house was in ruins, and your brothers were gone, slaughtered in the elven raid.
After a narrow escape from Goldenhaven, you now take up the mantle of the last of the Harborwell bloodline, beginning a desperate war to reclaim your family's legacy.
Valdemar Harborwell, the Grand Lord of Goldenhaven
Valdemar Harborwell was the formidable leader of the pro-monarchy faction and the bedrock of the kingdom. He was the grand lord who led Goldenhaven to prosperity and the pillar the royal family trusted most.
He was a man of profound insight, evidenced by his support for Eslyn, the talented daughter of a fallen retainer family, whose potential he recognized and nurtured.
Valdemar was the first to sense the elven invasion. He championed a peace treaty while striving to rouse the nobility to vigilance.
However, his life was cut short by the elves who targeted House Harborwell, and with his fall, the golden age of the port city began to dim. His death was not an end, but the prologue to the tragedy that would consume Goldenhaven.
Valdemar Harborwell: Design Notes
Valdemar is designed with short, silver-gray hair, a full, well-groomed beard, and a solid, sturdy build. His face bears the weathered lines of a man who has ruled his domain and traversed battlefields for decades. His deep, heavy gaze radiates the dignity and solemnity of a grand lord.
His silver armor is emblazoned with the golden Phoenix, the sigil of House Harborwell, while a crimson cloak flows from his shoulders, symbolizing his lifelong role as the unwavering guardian of Goldenhaven.
Leopold Harborwell, the Eldest Son of House Harborwell
Leopold Harborwell, the firstborn of House Harborwell and the rightful heir to the lordship. From a young age, his mastery of bloodline magic was unparalleled, and he shared his warmth with retainers and commoners alike, like a sun shining upon the land.
At the age of fifteen, a tragic accident claimed both of his legs, but Leopold remained unshaken.
If anything, his indomitable will only refined his prowess as a bloodline mage. Even from his wheelchair, his unwavering charisma commanded the absolute trust of his people; all of Goldenhaven loved him.
The crown jewel of the family was the Book of Rites, the heart of House Harborwell, which bestowed immense power and knowledge upon its reader. Leopold was a rare type of bloodline mage even in the Harborwell family, one capable of forcibly imbuing others with power through the Book of Rites. It was this ability that made the royal family hold House Harborwell in such high regard.
As a dependable eldest brother, Leopold had always supported and cherished the youngest sibling. Following their father's passing, he summoned the youngest back to Goldenhaven to protect the family's legacy. But on the day of the succession ceremony, he fell helplessly to the elven assault. The lord beloved by Goldenhaven lost his life on his most brilliant day, with the Book of Rites in his grip.
Leopold Harborwell: Design Notes
Leopold is designed with dark, chin-length hair, prominent cheekbones, and a sharp gaze. Though his build is lean, we aimed to give him a quiet strength and an overwhelming presence, even from his wheelchair. His attire centers on the Harborwell colors of orange and gold, featuring a luxurious white cloak draped elegantly over his seat.
The Book of Rites, hovering above his left hand and emitting a brilliant golden glow, serves as a symbol that he is not merely a lord, but a masterful mage as well.
Lucian Harborwell, the Second Son
Steam post image
Growing up in the shadow of his perfect older brother Leopold, Lucian harbored deep inferiority. Even so, he was kinder to the youngest sibling than anyone else. If Leopold was the sun that shone on everyone, Lucian was the brother who stayed close—laughing, grumbling, and walking side-by-side with the youngest.
Though his heart was often stained with a sense of inferiority and self-resentment, a fierce pride in the Harborwell name remained anchored deep within him. On the day the elven raid plunged Goldenhaven into chaos, Lucian did not flee. Driven by his sense of duty as a member of a noble house, he stood against the invaders until the very end.
Lucian Harborwell: Design Notes
Lucian is characterized by pale skin and dark brown, tightly curled hair. We aimed for refined, aristocratic features and a slightly melancholic expression, while still giving him an air of pride. His outfit maintains visual unity with House Harborwell's traditional attire and key colors, as he is dressed in formal ceremonial attire for the succession ceremony.
