ECHO CORE changes
Since releasing our last game, Tether Brawl, we have taken a break and reflected on the future of our studio.
Tether Brawl was a great stepping stone as our first game, but sales-wise, it was hard to justify putting more hard hours into the game, and for our studio’s survival, it would be best to move on to a new project.
We are still quite proud of what Tether Brawl has achieved and what it has come to be!
After our break, it made sense to work on the next game. We did the best we could for Tether Brawl, and it was time to set our sights on another, to keep growing as a studio.
There was doubt. There were thoughts around if making a new game was the right step to take.
For the first step with this new game, we built the first look. It looked impressive to have assets we had in the backlog, to be put together like this.
The concept is: you wake up in an abandoned, sci-fi facility, not knowing who you are, and where everyone is. You battle robots who seem to want you gone and figure out the mysteries of who you are and what happened to this place.
Since then, we have been developing this new game called “ECHO CORE”. One of the hard struggles we have faced recently is re-factoring.
This means for the game’s logic and programming, it is made more efficient and better long-term. This usually involves re-writing code.
This took a bit, but on the programming side, this just means it will be much easier in the long-run!
What has definitely helped us was taking that break after Tether Brawl and chatting with our local game dev community.
Just looking at what we have done so far and having this first level look good, it's a small win or exciting moment. It was nice to hear positive feedback when we showed this to some people.
We are just excited to have this game out and playable, too.
The next big step we have is Steam Next Fest, coming this June.
Going forward, we will be using a new Discord server for all LEVEL 126 games, rather than a separate server per game.
We'd love to see you there ❣️ : Discord Community
Stay tuned and thank you!
