Chizuru Makes Some Waves!

Hey Duelists! We've got a brand-new update out, featuring our latest guest character: Chizuru from Super Ledgehop: Double Laser!

Chizuru is a high-speed character with a dynamic playstyle, capable of switching on a dime between long-range pestering and in-your-face mixups! This high level of versatility doesn't come for free though, requiring you to manage your gun's ammo supply to maintain access to your strongest tools. Combine that with Chizuru's many unique cancel options, and she becomes a surprisingly technical, yet highly rewarding character with lots of room for self-expression!

You can try out Chizuru in Duels of Fortune RIGHT NOW, as well as all the other new content we've included in this update! Here's a shortlist of what you can expect:

  • A new playable character!

  • 2 new stages! (plus 1 updated stage!)

  • New Super Ledgehop-themed costumes!

  • 5 new Missions!

  • New Pride-themed alt colours!

  • Bug fixes and minor balance adjustments

We've made a short video to show you a slice of everything this update has to offer! Check it out below!

Continue reading below for the full patch notes!

NEW FIGHTER

  • Chizuru from Super Ledgehop: Double Laser dashes into the fight! With her shooting skills, her Shine Bracelet, and the techniques she’s learned from her friends and family, she’s ready to make waves in the roster!

Costumes

  • Added a new costume: Taotao Tano Chizuru (Unlocked by beating Arcade Mode as Chizuru)

  • Added a new costume: Classic Chizuru (Unlocked by playing 10 matches on the Shinecoast City stage)

  • Added a new costume: Uniform Chizuru (Unlocked by default)

Music

  • Added new music tracks to the Jukebox and stage select:

    • Cheese It Up! (Chizuru's Theme) (Arranged by Jack7, based on the music of Super Ledgehop: Double Laser)

    • Final Boss - The Final Ledgehop (by Princess Sylvysprit)

    • Yuuto Battle - Unlockable Girl ~ Star Azure Fantasy (by Princess Sylvysprit)

  • The song "We Need a Gyro -Judo Mix-" must now be unlocked by beating the Mission "Exploding Judo Federation"

Stage Hazards

  • On stages with platform hazards, platforms can now be dropped through by double-tapping down. You can also now hold down while falling towards a platform to pass through it completely, even while attacking

    • NOTE: This change also affects Missions where platforms are involved, such as "The Amulet"

Alt Colours

  • Pride flag-themed EX1 colours have been added to all non-guest characters that didn’t previously have one! Pride is all year round!!

    • The following characters have new alts: Derrick, Azutron, Master Locks, Baron, Yosei, Lumina, Lance, Guy, Miko & Mira, Gritallica, Doodle (Stryker costume only)

Reversal

  • Fixed an issue where characters would fail to turn around when using a Reversal after passing through the opponent with a getup roll

Free-Fall

  • Fixed an issue where resetting in Training Mode during a move that would put your character into free-fall caused the free-fall particles to briefly persist after resetting

Miscellaneous

  • The brand-new Cosmic Hat Games logo can now be seen on the startup splash screen!

Lore Journal

  • Added new lore entries:

    • Chizuru (Unlocked by beating Arcade Mode as Chizuru)

    • Mashiro (Unlocked by playing 5 matches on the Shinecoast City stage)

    • Hazuki (Unlocked by playing 5 matches on the Shinecoast City stage)

    • Isuzu (Unlocked by playing 5 matches on the Shinecoast City stage)

  • Changed the unlock conditions for the following lore entries:

    • Chef Mick Rowave - Play 5 matches on the Chez Mick stage (was previously 10 matches on Penny Avenue)

    • Warrez Skyhawk - Play 10 matches on the Penny Avenue stage (was previously 5 matches)

  • Lore entries with an “Origin Game” field now also list the year in which the game released, where applicable

  • Added new lore entry filters for “Canon”, “Non-Canon”, and “DoF Participants”

  • You can now toggle on/off the unlock conditions for costumes when viewing a lore entry, regardless of whether or not the costumes is unlocked

Character Select

  • Fixed an issue where Player 2 would be unable to select character after changing Player 1 to be a CPU, then changing them back to a player

  • Fixed an issue where changing attempting to select a costume after changing Player 1 to be a CPU would instead select Player 2’s costume

Stage Select

  • Updated the music selector on the stage select screen to be a scrolling list like the Jukebox, making it much easier to choose your own jams!

Mission Mode

  • Added 5 new Missions:

    • Getting Tilted (Page 2)

    • High Tide (Page 2)

    • Catch Me If You Can! (Page 4)

    • A Poor Imi-Tito-n (Guest Page)

    • Star Azure Fantasy (Guest Page)

  • ALL crossover Missions have been moved to a new, special page called "Guest Page"

    • NOTE: This change affects all Missions involving guest characters and guest/crossover costumes, except for "Let Me Be Clear", as despite Johnson being involved, the Mission does not reference Schwarzerblitz in any meaningful way

    • NOTE 2A large number of Mission slots on regular pages are now blank as a result of this change. We will work to fill in these empty slots with new Missions over time.
  • Made some back-end changes to the Mission Mode save file configuration. As a result of this, the Mission “Bug Fixing” will now be marked as incomplete if it was previously completed!!!

  • Beach Bully - Fixed an issue where, upon restarting the Mission, sand castles would rapidly respawn until the round began

  • The Amulet - Fixed an issue where it was possible to get stuck on a specific wall near the start of the level

  • Your Own Worst Enemy - Fixed a typo in the Mission’s failure tip

Tutorial

  • Added new lessons in the Character section:

    • Chizuru

  • Automatic text scrolling now briefly pauses when any punctuation is reached, better emulating the flow of real speech

  • CharacterGlobule - Fixed an issue where Punching Bag would continue throwing baseballs even after the relevant objective was completed

NEW STAGE: Shinecoast City

  • Hang out and eat food with your friends in Shinecoast City, a stage that faithfully recreates Super Ledgehop: Double Laser’s title screen and opening area! You can even spot some important characters from other LAME Dimension games in the background!

NEW STAGE: Chez Mick

  • Welcome to the one and only Chez Mick, Homestyle Restaurante! Enjoy the most slightly-above-average dining in all of Victory Island while basking in the cozy, laid-back atmosphere… as long as you ignore the two idiots fighting in the middle of the establishment

Boxing Ring

  • Updated the stage’s visuals

Azu-Corps HQ

  • With hazards enabled, this stage now features a platform in the center

Unknown Plane

  • Adjusted the way the stage is lit so that certain objects (such as Derrick’s items) are not as drastically affected by the lighting
