Arcane and Divine Update (v74)
This update massively expands both arcane and divine magic, with over 100 new spells and many existing spells reworked. It also adds full wizard school specialization, cleric deity choices, new magical gear, new spell scrolls/wands/potions, clearer quest text, and a broad round of combat, loot, UI, and balance improvements. Additionally, item identification has been reworked, and vendors can now identify or uncurse items for a fee.
It also includes many smaller balance changes, wording improvements, internal cleanups, and fixes.
New Spells And Magic
Added 111 new spells across L1 to L9.
Added major high-level spells including Wish, Clone, Gate, Prismatic Wall, Weird, Horrid Wilting, Enervation, Flesh to Stone, Repulsion, Passwall, Transmute Rock to Mud, Animate Dead, Death Spell, and stronger teleportation options.
Added many new summoning, wall, divination, enchantment, illusion, necromancy, restoration, and nature spells.
Added new shadow magic, monster summoning tiers, animal summoning tiers, and higher-level divine spell options.
Reworked many existing spells with clearer effects, targeting, saving throws, durations, and combat messages.
Rebalanced spell casting MP/PP costs.
Improved spell targeting previews, projectile timing, area spell feedback, and spell hit messages.
Wizard Schools And Deities
Added wizard school specialization with school mastery bonuses.
Added school opposition rules, school-specific spell bonuses, and generalist/specialist class perks.
Added cleric deity selection with special bonuses.
Rebalanced racial bonuses and several class/build-specific spell restrictions.
Items And Loot
Added an unidentified [?] marker on unknown items.
Added vendor Examine and Cleanse services to identify and uncurse items.
Added new potions, wands, and scrolls for the new spells.
Added spell focus gear, including spell focus rings, spell focus amulets, mind-piercing talismans, illusion crystals, and empowering runes.
Added spell-save resistance jewelry, including rings and amulets with +1 to +3 spell save bonuses.
Added the Radiant Lightglass Star Amulet upgrade.
Added mithril as a material and tuned mithril armor weight.
Added stack-priced ammo and larger practical ammo shop stacks.
Retuned barrel, crate, and chest drops and drop rates.
Increased the drop rate of artifacts.
Improved the effects of Luck on loot.
Improved vendor stock change rate.
Combat, Classes, And Dungeon Play
Added a new shield weapon skill.
Added hostile/ally/neutral AI handling, so summons, hazards, monster spells, breath weapons, and player attacks work correctly.
Added bonus attack values against well-studied monsters through Lore.
Added monster burning, wet, and slickened states through fire, waterskins, and oil flasks.
Improved traps to use clearer attribute save rolls.
Improved projectile and spell collision to use line of sight more accurately.
Improved tools, including pitons, acid flasks, and oil flasks, for use on doors and locks.
Improved chest and door kicking DCs and kick damage.
Improved secret room generation.
Adjusted class perks and class actions for Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, Wizard, Ranger, Paladin, and Druid.
Quest Text And World Polish
Cleaned up and improved text across the whole game.
Cleaned up unreachable, duplicate, and overly split dialogue states.
Improved quest journal text, objective text, and quest text to be clearer.
Fixed many localization issues across supported languages.
UI, Controls, And Polish
Improved save listing speed and atomic save writes.
Improved race/class details text.
Improved skill descriptions to be clearer.
Fixed skill check modifiers not applying correctly.
Added spell attack on the character sheet.
Added monster status details to the inspect screen.
Improved various targeting and camera controls.
Optimized catalog pages.
Increased message log history and appended local context after monster turns.
Improved timed action labels, channeling progress text, inline world-map identify, and interruption of world-map channels by encounters.
Matched auto-walk repeat timing to held-key movement and added a ten-turn wait from the walk prompt.
Optimized sprite-mode rendering significantly.
World And Progression Fixes
Improved tutorial guide hints and camp layout guidance.
Chained Aldren's watchtower handoff from the cave chief route more cleanly.
Gated Reedmire and waystation progress more deliberately.
Required the Highmark lead for lower gate progression.
Added many missing quest XP rewards.
Fixed Valoria road tiles and repaired Smuggler Cove corner gaps.
Improved autoexplore behavior around fog and closed doors.
Fixed duplicate fire hazard handling and many item, quest, dialogue, layout, and localization edge cases.
