changedIt's so great to have a chance to reach out to you guys and gals once more. And with super exciting news no less! I know it's been a while since our last announcement, but this one is a big one: Detective Di: The Silk Rose Murders version 2.0 is coming in just a couple of weeks.
changedThis process took many years, and over time, we made small incremental updates and improvements along the way. Given the size of our team (mostly me!), those changes were never back-ported to the Steam version. Well, that changes soon!
changedWhile these changes do not impact the story or the core gameplay, I do think they enhance the overall experience for different devices and screens (hello Steam Deck!). In other words, we think the current version is great, but this one is even better!
addednew drag-and-drop functionality when using/combining inventory items
addednew "Detective Vision" button which reveals on-screen hotspots
addednew auto-save system; triggered at key points in the game

So, I know what you're asking: "What the heck is in 2.0? And why did it take so long to release?"

For those of you who have followed the journey of this project since its Kickstarter origins, you may know that after the original release on Steam in English and Chinese, we ported the game to multiple platforms, including Nintendo and Xbox. Since then, the game was even translated to Korean for an exclusive release in that region.

This process took many years, and over time, we made small incremental updates and improvements along the way. Given the size of our team (mostly me!), those changes were never back-ported to the Steam version. Well, that changes soon!

While these changes do not impact the story or the core gameplay, I do think they enhance the overall experience for different devices and screens (hello Steam Deck!). In other words, we think the current version is great, but this one is even better!

So then, here are a few highlights of v2.0:

  • new drag-and-drop functionality when using/combining inventory items

  • new "Detective Vision" button which reveals on-screen hotspots

  • new auto-save system; triggered at key points in the game

  • and much more! (We'll publish the full list when the update is live.)

But wait! There's something else: Detective Di is crossing over to the printed page— new Kickstarter September 1st!

Yes! I’m bringing the game's story to a brand-new medium: the novel. This September, I’m launching a Kickstarter to adapt The Silk Rose Murders from game to book. I’d love for you to join me on this next chapter of Detective Di's journey!

Check out our pre-launch page to learn more and see how this affects my plans for a sequel! Remember to hit the "Notify Me" button so you don’t miss launch day!

Thank you for your support!
