PATCH NOTES - Update 1
This update focuses on the two things that make or break a shift on
the phones: being heard correctly, and having a desk worth sitting at.
Voice recognition has been rebuilt from the ground up, audio settings
finally do what they say, and the office has grown a notebook, a
working clock, and a name on the door.
Two new cases also ship with this update! See the bottom of these notes.
VOICE & DICTATION (REBUILT)
Speech recognition now runs on a local Whisper model instead of
Windows Speech. Dictation is noticeably more accurate, handles
accents and natural phrasing far better, and no longer depends on
Windows language packs or speech settings being configured.
Recognition runs fully offline and on your machine — nothing you
say is sent anywhere.
Fixed cases where dictation would silently stop working mid-call
or refuse to start on some Windows installs.
AUDIO & SETTINGS
Added a microphone (input device) selector in the settings menu.
Pick exactly which mic the game listens to instead of hoping
Windows picked the right one.
Added an output device selector so game audio can be routed to a
specific speaker or headset.
Rebuilt the audio mixer routing. Music and SFX sliders now affect
the correct channels, and levels no longer jump between menus and
gameplay.
All settings — sensitivity, zoom sensitivity, graphics quality,
volumes and device choices — now save and reload correctly between
sessions.
Changing an audio device mid-session applies immediately, without
restarting the game or dropping the call.
NEW: LIVE MICROPHONE METER
A segmented mic level meter now appears while you're on a call, so
you can see at a glance that the game is actually hearing you.
The meter runs green through yellow to red, making it obvious when
you're too quiet to be picked up or loud enough to clip.
It appears when a call connects and disappears when it ends.
NEW: THE DETECTIVE'S NOTEBOOK
A notebook now sits on the detective's desk and can be picked up
and read at any time during a case.
Type notes directly onto the page — names, numbers, whatever you
need to keep straight while a caller is talking.
Added a drawing mode: sketch on the page freehand with the pen,
clean up mistakes with the eraser, or clear the whole page and
start over.
Switch between typing and drawing with an on-page toolbar. Your
notes and sketches stay on the page while you work the case.
THE OFFICE
The office has been expanded with new floor space, proper tiled
flooring and painted plaster walls.
Added a double exit door with a lit exit sign.
Your office door now carries a custom brass plaque reading
" 'S OFFICE", pulled from your Steam profile.
The wall clock is now alive — the second, minute and hour hands
turn on a real geared ratio.
General lighting, layout and prop pass across the whole office.
INTERFACE & QUALITY OF LIFE
Text fields now show a soft pulsing glow while focused, so it's
always clear where your typing is going.
Improved click handling on world-space UI buttons — fewer missed
or double-registered presses on in-world screens.
Chair interaction UI cleaned up.
Various fixes to the phone prefab, camera switching and evidence
paper handling.
NEW: TWO NEW CASES
THE MAN WHO DIDN'T EXIST
PROOF OF THE PUDDING
Both cases are live with this update and are waiting on your desk.
Cases are delivered from our servers, so there's nothing else to
download — install this update and they're there. Take notes, ask the
right questions, and be careful what you rule out early. Good luck, Detective!
