changed🛠️ What’s New in Version 1.0A Complete Visual Overhaul (All Art Remade!) If the game looks crisper, cleaner, and completely refreshed, that’s because it is. We have completely remade all the art assets in the game from scratch. The materials look better, the UI is cleaner, and watching things blow apart is more visually satisfying than ever before.
added🛠️ What’s New in Version 1.040+ Brand New Props To give you way more freedom with your builds, we’ve added over 40 new components to the sandbox. (2 new ragdolls, 4 new cars and 25 map building props and much more.)
added🛠️ What’s New in Version 1.0The Sandbox Starter Map We’ve added a brand new, fully populated map to the game! You can use it as a pre-built base to test your most destructive vehicles against, or you can jump right into the editor and tear it apart, rebuild it, and reshape it exactly how you see fit. Think of it as your ultimate canvas. (On breaking all the buildings in this map you get a achievement.)

added🛠️ What’s New in Version 1.0Localization (10 New Languages Added) We want players all over the world to be able to break things comfortably. We have officially added localized support for 10 new languages in 1.0! If your language isn’t supported yet, don't worry—we have even more translations coming in the next few days.

First and foremost, a massive THANK YOU to our incredible community. Whether you joined us on day one of Early Access or just picked up your wrench last week, your feedback, bug reports, and absolutely unhinged creations have shaped this game into the ultimate physics sandbox. We couldn't have built this without you.

🛠️ What’s New in Version 1.0

We didn't just polish the edges for 1.0—we went back to the drawing board on some massive core features. Here is exactly what is waiting for you in the game today:

  • A Complete Visual Overhaul (All Art Remade!) If the game looks crisper, cleaner, and completely refreshed, that’s because it is. We have completely remade all the art assets in the game from scratch. The materials look better, the UI is cleaner, and watching things blow apart is more visually satisfying than ever before.

  • 40+ Brand New Props To give you way more freedom with your builds, we’ve added over 40 new components to the sandbox. (2 new ragdolls, 4 new cars and 25 map building props and much more.)

  • The Sandbox Starter Map We’ve added a brand new, fully populated map to the game! You can use it as a pre-built base to test your most destructive vehicles against, or you can jump right into the editor and tear it apart, rebuild it, and reshape it exactly how you see fit. Think of it as your ultimate canvas. (On breaking all the buildings in this map you get a achievement.)

  • 4 Brand New Steam Achievements For the trophy hunters out there, we’ve added 4 new challenges to track your engineering triumphs (and disasters):

  • Localization (10 New Languages Added) We want players all over the world to be able to break things comfortably. We have officially added localized support for 10 new languages in 1.0! If your language isn’t supported yet, don't worry—we have even more translations coming in the next few days.

⚙️ Performance, Stability & Quality of Life Upgrades

A full 1.0 release means making sure the game runs smoothly, handles your massive builds, and protects your hard work. Here are the major under-the-hood fixes and upgrades we’ve rolled out:

  • Save File Backward Compatibility : Yes, your old builds are safe! We know how much time you’ve poured into your creations during Early Access, so we made sure the 1.0 update is fully backward compatible. You can load your old save files smoothly.

    • (Note: Because all the art assets were completely remade from scratch, you might notice some minor position or rotation shifts on a few parts when you first load an old build. If something looks slightly off, just nudge it back into place, resave the file, and you’ll be good to go!)

  • Connection Order is Now Preserved : This is a huge win for advanced builders. The save files will now remember the exact order in which you made your connections. No more guessing games or weird physics glitches upon reloading—your complex contraptions will behave exactly the way you intended every single time you load them up.

  • Snappier, Better Camera Controls : We’ve ironed out the frustrating bugs with camera movement to give you a much smoother building and viewing experience. You can now easily toggle between two dedicated camera modes:

    • Freecam: For flying around and getting the perfect angle on your destruction.

    • Top-Down: For precision building and alignment. (Default camera from now on)

  • Physics Optimization : Physics-related bugs have received a massive overhaul. The engine is now significantly more stable and performant, meaning less random clipping, fewer phantom forces, and better framerates when things start blowing up.

  • Steam Workshop Ready : We have thoroughly tested the Steam Workshop upload system, and it is fully compatible with the 1.0 update.

    • We highly recommend updating your existing Workshop files! To do this, simply load your creation in the new 1.0 version, save it, and push the update to the Workshop again. This ensures other players get the cleanest, most optimized version of your build.

🔮 What’s Next? (The Future of Destructive Contraptions)

Releasing 1.0 means the core vision for Destructive Contraptions is finally complete. As a developer, hitting this milestone means I’ll slowly be moving on to start building my next game.

However, this doesn't mean I'm abandoning the workshop! Here is what you can expect moving forward:

  • One More Content Update: I am already working on another post-launch update that will drop in a few weeks! I’m still locking down the exact content for it, so stay tuned for details soon.

  • Continued Support: I will absolutely keep monitoring the community hubs and discord. If you find any game-breaking bugs or critical issues, please report them—I will continue to jump in and push necessary hotfixes to keep the simulation running smoothly for as long as I can.

❤️ A Final Thank You

Thank you all so much for making this journey through Early Access unforgettable. Seeing the absurd, genius, and downright chaotic machines you've built has been the absolute best part of developing this game. I couldn't have asked for a better community.
