Steam post imageIn Desserted, the scariest thing has never been the monsters.

It’s always your teammates, especially when they’re holding an item that “looks funny.”

In this devlog, we wanted to give everyone a closer look at some of the item systems currently in the game —

and more importantly, which items are safe to pick up…

【Highly Questionable “Advanced Technology”】

Magic Wand

The Magic Wand automatically locks onto targets within your line of sight.

Fire a magic beam, and enemies get transformed into random objects.

On paper, this is an incredibly advanced tactical device.

But in reality?

You only got ONE chance.

Good luck.

Hand-Crank Flashlight

To help players survive sudden blackouts, we added a real flashlight.

However, it’s an old-school hand-crank model.

The problem is:

While you’re frantically cranking it for power, the monsters can hear it too.

【Friendship Destroyers】

Screaming Chicken

Yes. We added a screaming rubber chicken.

Squeeze it, and it makes that exact cursed noise everybody already knows.

However, monsters can hear it too.

So naturally, players have been using it to:

  • lure monsters

  • expose teammates

  • ruin stealth instantly

  • psychologically destroy the entire voice chat

Mystery Pills

This is currently the least trustworthy item in the game.

Take one, and you might:

  • instantly die

  • heal yourself

  • lose health

  • gain a huge amount of Caliex

  • throw up

  • get movement speed buffs

  • or trigger something we genuinely cannot explain

【Simple. Brutal. Effective.】

Shovel

If you’re wondering: “Is there a normal weapon in the game?”

Absolutely.

It’s a shovel.

Swing. Smack.

No advanced technology.

No magic powers.

No complicated mechanics.

But honestly?

It works REALLY well.

Especially when:

  • your teammate is getting chased by a monster

  • or your teammate stole your food

Flashbang

Sometimes, surviving only takes one second.

Flashbangs explode after a short delay:

  • players get completely white-screened

  • monsters immediately lose their current target

  • and temporarily freeze in place

Technically, it’s an incredible clutch item.

In reality, most matches end with someone yelling:

“WHO THREW THAT AT ME?!”

【The Truly Expensive Stuff】

Revival Gun

In Desserted, death doesn’t always mean the end.

Assuming your teammates are willing to risk coming back for you.

The Revival Gun can be used on dead TV-head corpses, bringing players back into the run.

And these are only some of the items currently in the game.

If there are any weird items you’d love to see in the future, or if you’ve already started theorycrafting “Rubber Chicken speedrun strats” — let us know!

There’s a very real chance we’ll actually add them.
