Depth Diver changes
It’s been a really, really long time since the last devlog… and today is the day: Depth Diver is officially RELEASING!!!
Before anything else, go check out the trailer.
The Beginning of a journey
Back in December 2023, while playing co-op games, we got the idea. At the time, I was just making small games on my own without any real goal. Then with Flav, we thought: why not create a simple co-op underwater game set in the universe of Project Omesla?
Omesla was already a huge world he had been building for years with a friend. We were inspired by games like Subnautica, Phasmophobia, and later Lethal Company, which we played after starting development.
The idea quickly grew. We started sketching concepts, mechanics, storylines… and ended up with way more ideas than expected. At first, this was supposed to be a small one-year project. But as time went on, it became something much bigger.
We eventually released a demo. It had a lot of unfinished content, and honestly, both the game and the trailer weren’t great. But we learned a lot from it.
We realized we had aimed too high for such a short timeframe. So we made a decision: we would take another full year to do things properly, and aim for a release at the end of 2025.
The second year of developpement
This second year was a turning point.
After the demo, we started taking the project seriously. Just for context, we’re only 20 now, and we started working on the game when we were 18.
We didn’t want to make “just another co-op game.” We wanted to build a world. Something coherent, something meaningful, something that could tell stories through its environments.
We set a core rule: everything had to make sense within the world especially the relationship between the Metallurgical Union and marine life.
Flav worked on the industrial side using Onshape for 3D modeling (which is honestly pretty unusual in game dev), while I focused on organic elements in Blender. With our very different styles, we managed to create a strong visual contrast between the Union’s structures and the living world of Gornak.
We built a story. We explored ideas.
And in the end, we created something that feels like us: something strange, sometimes illogical at first glance but with an explanation behind everything.
The game isn’t perfect. I know that. We’re still learning, and we didn’t always have as much time as we wanted.
But we gave it everything we had and we’ll keep improving it until it reaches the level we envision.
We already have many updates planned, so stay tuned.
A lovely encounter
In March 2025, while browsing Freesound.org looking for sound effects, I randomly checked the profile of someone who had made a piece of music I liked.
I ended up listening to more of his work and I loved it. So I reached out.
His name is Yuri.
And what he offered us was honestly unbelievable: he wanted to compose the entire soundtrack for the game.
No guarantees. No expectations. Just pure passion.
After a year of collaboration, we ended up with:
22 tracks used in the game
15 additional tracks created as part of the project
We agreed on a royalty system, and beacause we liked so much his work, we also decided to release an OST DLC where he'll receives 100% of the revenue, as a way to give back for everything he brought to the project.
The soundtrack is a huge part of Depth Diver. Each track is designed for specific environments and plays dynamically across maps.
The composer goes by BlackSidedSun, and I highly recommend checking out his work

We have a lot planned for Depth Diver.
In the first month, we aim to release a major lore update, including:
a new map
new scrap items
new creatures
After that, we’ll work on a more fun-oriented update with new mechanics, creatures, and items.
By the end of the year, our goal is to expand the game significantly with:
more maps
more creatures
deeper lore
and a more complete story
We’ll keep sharing devlogs to give you a clear view of the development process
Community
We really want to build something with the community. We’ll do our best to answer questions and listen to feedback.
Just one thing: please stay respectful and kind to each other.
Just remember to.. Fear the depths.
