For the past two months we’ve been working on one important part of the game — the controls.

Originally, Deliver Die Die was designed around mouse input. But during internal testing we noticed a problem: instead of watching the scene unfold, players started chasing UI buttons around the screen with the cursor.

For an interactive movie, that’s critical — it breaks immersion.

So we decided to completely rebuild the control system so that the player’s actions match what the character is doing on screen as closely as possible.

For example, in the scene shown in the video the character braces both hands against a door and tries to break it open. At that moment, the player needs to hold both triggers on the gamepad — as if they were physically pushing the door themselves.

Interactions like this make the player feel the action instead of just pressing buttons.

Interactive movies don’t leave much room for traditional gameplay mechanics. So we try to use every possible technique to make the experience feel more immersive.

You can also see the new QTE interactions in the updated trailer on the game’s store page.
