It's been a while since our last update to the Defiled West demo, but that's not to say we haven't been hard at work fixing bugs and working on exciting new features! Most of our attention has been focused on content outside of the demo, but there are still plenty of changes and improvements that we are able to share with you now!
Improvements
The inventory UI now features a new section dedicated to collectables! Here you will be able to view your collected achievements, cosmetics and more!
Ranged weapons now have a point blank bonus! Killing enemies at close range will now deal extra damage.
The weapon wagon now features new visuals which serve as a way to compare different weapon stats.
New animations for the Poltergeist and its pedestal!
New animations for the Slammer!
New animations for the Crimson Disciple!
New animations for the Drunkdead!
New updated look for the Enraged Souls!
New and improved boss health bar art (supporting a range of colours)!
Items placed on workbenches inside buildings are now saved.
When close to a locked door, the door will now display an icon depicting the key it requires.
New icons for snake oil healing effects.
Dying in the street no longer takes you to the death screen. Instead, you will immediately respawn in the street.
Items now fly out of searchable furniture instead of just appearing out of thin air.
The bounty posters now have visuals to convey how you will be rewarded for capturing a bounty vs killing them.
The statistics menu now supports controller use.
The settings menu now contains a master volume slider.
Enraged souls are now killed on completion of a level.
General Store now deals slightly less damage.
Withered Whiskey is no longer consumed when dying in the street (outside of levels).
Increased the stack size of Lesser Snake Oil.
Reduced the speed at which you are required to shoot the targets in the Sacrificial Sheriff's office.
Sheriff Brutality now has a cooldown on his minion summoning, allowing the shotgun to be a vialble option when fighting him.
Soul scale ability selection cards and decriptions are now more readable.
Bug Fixes
Sound effect panning should now be slightly less drastic when standing right next to the source of that sound.
Fixed an issue where Inventory UI statistic tooltips would not disappear after closing the UI.
Hybrid-type enemies no longer release Enraged Souls when killed by spectral weapons.
Creepy Captives can no longer leave buildings with you.
Fixed an issue that caused Snake Oil to make you permanently immune to damage over time effects.
Fixed an issue that prevented building reminder signs from reappearing after loading a save.
Fixed a critical issue that could prevent you from dropping your weapons.
Fixed an issue where the soul scale would not appear locked if you started a new game.
Fixed an issue that would cause throwable gadgets to sometimes be super loud on impact.
Fixed the statistics page such that exiting it no longer breaks the pause menu.
Enemies spawned from windows no longer have a chance to deafen you.
Fixed an issue where your gadgets would sometimes not save properly after exiting a level.
Fixed a bug that would prevent the player spectralisation animation from playing.
Fixed a bug that would cause the item popup to display "-0" when deleting a singular item.
You can press the continue button on the pause menu again.
Gadgets are now unequipped when activating the Spinshot ability.
The shotgun no longer makes a horrible deafening noise when used with the Spinshot ability.
Fixed an issue that prevented certain melee weapons from being used for a small duration after being equipped.
The weapon wagon no longer shows outdated D-pad icons while a controller is connected.
Ammo count wasn't updating while using the Spinshot ability. Now it does.
Fixed an issue that would cause the "Press to close inventory" tutorial hint to appear after you've already closed your inventory.
Fixed an issue that could cause the occult wheel filling animation to sometimes trigger twice.
Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented previously-lit lamps from activating properly when loading a save.
Enemy ranged weapons no longer render on top of an object while the enemy holding it is standing behind said object.
The "delete item" icon no longer appears on gadget slots containing gadgets that cannot be deleted.
Martha's minions now decay more elegantly.
And many more little things here and there!
There's still a way to go, but every day we draw closer to a full release. We're currently in the process of adding the finishing touches to the Screaming Caves, which is shaping up to be quite the eerie environment with plenty of new mechanics and combat challenges! Here is a little sneak peek:
