The holiday season may be over, but an exciting year of Defiled West development is just beginning! We've been hard at work making new bug fixes and improvements for the demo, alongside making excellent progress with the Screaming Caves: our second major town!
Bug Fixes
Aiming direction no longer breaks at the border of maps when playing on controller.
The gundead from the soul scale tutorial kept reappearing in the Ethereal Rift. He is now gone.
Tutorial videos are now much less likely to freeze.
Fixed an issue that would cause the oilchestrator to freeze and become invulverable after loading a checkpoint.
Gadgets are now properly refunded after dying in a level.
Fixed an issue that would allow players to make themselves invincible.
Fixed an issue that would cause certain status effects to persist after death.
Fixed an issue that would cause street ambience sound effects to continue into buildings and the main menu.
Sounds no longer continue to play after the player dies.
Fixed an issue that would prevent enemies from walking into Sheriff Brutality's office after his death.
The boss loot chest will no longer reveal itself until a boss death animation is completed.
You can no longer escape Martha's bar before she reveals herself, locking yourself out.
The drop item progress circle will no longer show when right clicking over a weapon slot.
The game can no longer be paused while the player is in a death animation.
There is now a delay between player damage sound effects.
Weird swirling patterns no longer subtly border the entire screen.
Bones and Old Rags can now be disposed of using the item bin in the Occult Stables.
Waves of Drunken Deputies in the Occult Stables are significantly smaller.
Improvements
New damage particles for skeletal and hybrid enemies.
Entities that are burning now have visible flames.
Enemies are now gradually pushed away after lighting lamps.
The item collection popup now includes icons to show where the item is going.
All key items are now stored on a keyring in the inventory UI.
Areas that can be dug up now show a shovel icon when a shovel is in the inventory.
Soul Scale Elixirs no longer have the ability to kill you.
The soul sacrifice pedestal outside Brainsburys is now animated.
The statistics menu now shows any active player stat modifiers.
Some statistics can now be viewed from the inventory UI.
New sound effects for digging holes & more!
