Dave-Man changes
Updates:
Added: Janitor Salesman in Arcade Mode
Updated: Joystick Controls.
JoyStick Controls
I have tested Dave-Man extensively with a game pad, but it was a retro SNES-style gamepad. Therefore no joystick. Upon purchasing another controller with joysticks I realized the setup wasn't optimal.
With the update there is now more "dead zone" to prevent accidentally taking a turn.
I hope that helps but if anyone has any further feedback or specific issues I'd be happy to revise. I wanted to get this updated ASAP as though I'm not sure it is perfect I am confident it is much better than before.
Janitor Salesman
This was supposed to be a fully functional feature at the initial release. It was mostly setup but I just didn't have time to test it fully. Now it is fully tested and good to go!
In Arcade Mode you can now talk to the janitor—after beating a level*—and you can trade your powerups:
Trade 2 powerups for one powerup of your choosing
Trade 3 powerups for an extra life
*When talking to the janitor at the beginning of Arcade mode he will explain Arcade Mode. After beating a level he will become a salesman.
For either trade, you are trading the first powerups in your inventory. To be clear, that means starting on the left of the UI. I thought about letting the player choose which ones but decided against it. It was a tad easier to implement this way but I also think it forces some strategy.
Trade for Powerups Selecting this option will bring up a menu of every powerup you have unlocked. Side-note, to make more powerups available in Arcade mode you must find them in Story Mode.
This trade is intended mostly for if you favor certain powerups over others. So if you have two powerups you don't care for you can turn them in and nab one of your choosing. On the flip side, if you love a powerup you can try to horde as many as you can of it by turning in others.
The new powerup goes at the end of your inventory; far right. If it were to go at the beginning it would be wasteful to make another trade.
Trade for Lives Straightforward - trade your next 3 powerups for an extra life.
There is a cap of 5 lives at time.
...really this is just to keep that UI looking pretty :) But of course if you lose one you can just make the trade then. No rush.
Update actually went live 8/23/20. v1.0.35 was live for a short period on 8/23/20.
