What changed
- Gameplay
Traps
Six trap types are now scattered through the dungeon. Arrow traps, poison darts, bear traps, sleep gas, teleporters, and trapdoors. Most of them give you a dodge or saving throw based on your stats, so they're not just instant punishment, but they will hurt you if you're careless. If your intelligence is high enough, you'll get a vague warning when you step near one. You can also actively search for them by pressing X. You won't always find them, but you'll find them more often than if you just walk into them.
Dark Rooms
Some rooms are now completely dark. Your vision drops to almost nothing without a light source, which makes a lantern or ring of light actually useful.
Hand Selection Menu
When you equip a one-handed weapon, a small menu now asks which hand you want to use. Before this, equipping worked fine but there was no way to control which hand the weapon went to. Part of my ongoing effort to make the inventory and inventory management better.
Small stuff
DA_RL has almost been out for a month now and the support, feedback, and response to the game has been amazing, it has really motivated me to continue working on DA_RL and make it the best traditional roguelike I can. I read all feedback so if you want something changed or don't like a feature please don't hesitate to let me know! Thank you! Also, I am working on gamepad support to hopefully get DA_RL SteamDeck compatible.
