Cute Away: Paws Caretaker Simulator changes
Welcome to Version 0.4.a! This update represents a massive, ground-up rework of the 0.3 build. Previous bugs have been addressed, content gaps filled, and the overall quality of the game has been dramatically improved in preparation for the early access launch.
Deep new progression mechanics, fresh content, and a smoother gameplay experience are now available.
📈 Progression & Economy Rework
- New Game Economy & MilestonesXP, money, and ability points have been completely rebalanced. The game’s five core mechanics are now introduced gradually through a detailed new milestone system.
Expertise System: Players can now specialize in areas like Cat Caretaking or Cooking. Working in the shop levels up these specific expertise tracks, which are required to unlock special abilities and purchase unique items.
Ability Points: Ability Points are now earned each time a level up occurs. These points can be spent to improve efficiency and increase the quality of service provided to the cats.
✨ New Features & Improvements
- Expandable SpacesA new upgrade system has been introduced, allowing the shop and caretaking house to be physically extended over time.
- Resource ManagementA new Resource Usage UI has been implemented to track water and electricity consumption.
UI & System Overhauls:
Main Menu Updates: Release notes and game updates are now visible directly from the main menu.
New Score UI: Progress can now be tracked with a breakdown of daily points, enhanced score/level details, and insights on how to achieve higher scores.
Upgraded Ability UI: Current expertise levels can be easily checked to see what is required to unlock the next tier of cat-related abilities.
- SettingsThe settings menu has been expanded with new functionality and UI improvements.
- Fresh DecorA variety of new items and furniture have been added to extend gameplay.
Under-the-Hood Optimization: Massive object calculations have been significantly optimized for a smoother experience.
🐈 Feline Upgrades & Visuals
Stylized Visuals: Visual upgrades have been applied to the cat models for a better, cohesive stylized look.
Lifelike Cat Behaviors: Idle animations have been heavily upgraded. Cats will now look around and exhibit natural, cat-like behaviors.
Carrier Animations: Cats will now fully complete their preparation animations before stepping out of their carriers.
🐛 Bug Fixes & Polish
Cat Navigation Rework: The path calculation and navmesh system have been completely rebuilt. Cats can now jump, walk, and run with high accuracy and much more natural movement.
Carry Camera Fix: Carried items no longer block the camera. They now sit neatly at the bottom of the screen to provide better visibility to players.
Hand Alignment: Player hands now accurately snap and fit to the specific object or pet being carried.
Save/Load Fixes:
An issue where non-inventory items would disappear after saving and loading has been fixed.
A bug where carryable items assigned to quick slots would vanish from the inventory upon a save/load has been resolved.
🚀 Future Updates
Throughout the 0.4 lifecycle, smaller updates are planned for release. These will focus on bug fixes, fine-tuning the new economy balance, and introducing new items and decorations.
