Welcome Everyone I wanted to share a video explaining the thinking behind Cult:Manos. Im a fan of bad movies, and watching them is a comfort food for me. There's a certain safety in watching a horror fail. Somebody tried their best, but it just didnt quite worked. You end up watching two movies at once. The movie that it wanted to be, and what it become I wanted to make a game that have the same feeling. At first I wanted to make something funny, an homage. But Ive learned, like so many others before me, you cant create a bad movie on purpose, not really. As the project went on, I realised that making fun of a tragic story didnt felt right. It made me rethink. Why do I even enjoy those movies. I wasnt laughing at the victims, or at the movie makers. I was laughing at absurd situations it created. For me it was the same thing. I laughed at my problems to survive them. It helped but didnt solve my problems. I realised I need this game to reflect this too So, the I made the game with few layers If you want to experience absurdity of the movie, you can. You can play it as it is, finish the game and thats perfectly fine. But if you get the feeling that something more is going on, there is. There is a dark mystery to solve. And if you choose to go deeper you might even find a way out, find a solution. Its there, just hidden Ive put together 10 minute demo, I hope it scratches this itch. Id love if you would give it a try and tell me if it worked for you Cya at Masters house
