A Closer Look at Ted's Bookshelf

Steam post imageHappy Valentine's Day! I thought it'd be fun if today we put Dr. Ted Krupp on blast a little bit for his tastes and preferences, so let's take a closer look at the bookshelf in his cabin.

changedFor shelf 3 I got a little more silly with it. For cryptid stuff, we of course have Compendium of North American Cryptids and Magical Creatures , which has a beautiful front cover, but I couldn't find any reference pictures of the spine so I made one up. We also have a copy of The Mothman Prophecies on DVD, but I'm not sure if Ted has a TV, much less a DVD player. We have another biology textbook, Integrated Principles of Zoology (8th edition), and the children's book Everyone Poops , which you could argue is a biology book too. There's some other reference books here, including The Wealthy Barber and The Complete Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbook , which presumably Ted has to help him manage his personal finances and survive alone in the woods, respectively. And a copy of Cucumber Quest volume 1, just because it's a personal favorite of mine.
changedBy shelf 4 I was running out of ideas so I just filled a bunch of the space with rocks. Maybe Ted likes rocks, I dunno. On this shelf we also see Journal 3 as it appears in Gravity Falls , three volumes of Nichijou (another favorite of mine), and of course, our final Chuck Tingle book, Pounded by President Bigfoot.

Steam post imageHappy Valentine's Day! I thought it'd be fun if today we put Dr. Ted Krupp on blast a little bit for his tastes and preferences, so let's take a closer look at the bookshelf in his cabin. All of these titles are based on either real books or fictional books from other media.

On the top shelf here we have mostly books that are just for fun flavor. There's one actual cryptozoology book, The Weiser Field Guide to Cryptozoology. My college's game lab had a copy of this book for some reason, and I have fond memories of looking through it with my friends when we were supposed to be working on homework, so obviously I had to include it. The rest of these books are mostly there to suggest Ted's interest in cryptids expands into other supernatural phenomenon, mythical creatures, and monsters, like Dragonology, the D&D Monster Manual, and volumes 1 through 3 of Lumberjanes.

But since it's Valentine's Day I of course want to draw attention to Chuck Tingle's The Curse of Bigfoot Butt Camp, our first hint that Ted's interest in Bigfoot might not be strictly academic. Steam post image

For shelf 2 we're mostly back in the realm of reference texts: Cryptozoology A to Z, When Monsters Come Ashore: Stories of the Loch Ness Monster on Land, and even a normal Campbell Biology textbook (tenth edition). And of course as an homage to Pokemon Snap, I like to imagine CryptidCam takes place in a world where Professor Oak eventually published the Pokemon Report that the player took pictures for, and Ted has a copy.

Ted also has a Daruma doll with only one eye filled in on this shelf. I wonder what his wish is?
