✏️ It takes time to get things just right!

Designing characters is one of the most fun parts of game development - but also one of the trickiest. Before we landed on the final cozy-cute look of Crispy Circuits, we explored a lot of different ideas for how Giddily and her hamster sidekick Crispy could look and move.

We are sharing two GIFs showing their early animated versions, and wanted to let you in on the process.

📺 Here’s how Giddily looked before:

She’s always been curious and confident - but the earlier version had a bit more of a “mini-adult” vibe. We’ve since softened her design to feel more warm, playful, and expressive.

📺 And here’s an early version of Crispy:

This little guy has gone through so many rounds of tweaking - from proportions, to colour, to just how fast he spins in that wheel. (Important research.)

🛠️ Why we take our time

We want Giddily and Crispy to feel alive - not just in how they look, but in how they make you feel. That takes time. Small changes in shape, color, and animation can make a big difference in how cozy and fun a character feels to hang out with.

There are still little tweaks happening all the time, but we’re finally at a place where we’re feeling great about the direction.

💬 What do you think?

We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Which version do you like best? What kind of details do you think make a character feel cozy or charming?
