Hey Detectives, boy do we got an update for you!

As always we’re so grateful for all the support from our playerbase, and we’re excited to share with you our final update for the Crime or Punishment demo!

Amongst the improvements we’ve made, we have new voice acting, new music, UI improvements, a Gun Safe, and so much more. Now the demo is “finished”, we’ll be moving on to development of the full game. We’ll talk more soon about why we’re stopping updates to the demo (for now) and share some sneak peeks of new content coming to Crime or Punishment!

Changelog:

New Content:

  • The office has a new Gun Safe that can be unlocked to access the extra revolvers that can be brought to the Speakeasy

  • Agent Cooper has a new theme that plays during the conversation with Faulkner

  • Movement and sprint controls are now prompted to the player in the Office

  • The interact prompt icons change to reflect the optimal interact key, based on whether the player is using wasd or arrow keys

  • Main menu overhaul

  • New outline art that shows when a player takes a piece of evidence

  • New dialogue box art

  • The sheet music evidence in the Speakeasy now has a red herring option

Changes:

  • Voice-over recordings have been revised to prioritise cleaner, more understandable audio

  • The player will now be prompted and stopped if they try to leave the Office without the suspect dossiers folder. This prompt is specifically for the demo

  • The first Office cutscene now triggers after the player has poured their morning drink and left the evidence window

  • The player must check the police report delivered to their Desk by the Cop before receiving the call from the Mob Boss

  • The Objective note the player receives on their desk, after the first Mob Boss call, has been rewritten to be clearer in its explanation of the player's objective within the Speakeasy

  • Documents and items on the desk are now highlighted when hovered by the mouse

  • Pressing escape in the Desk now closes the desk document, when one is pulled up, rather than exiting the Desk

  • Various tweaks to dialogue and description text

As always, thank you for your support; we can’t wait to show you what dark corners Detective Faulkner will be investigating next!
