Hi,

This is FlatCat.

Today I wanna go into details about update 212 and why there were many significant changes.

Let's say you have a bag that contains 3 different types of balls:

Blue, Green, and Red.

You pull out random balls to form a sequence.

Guess what the chance is that each color will appear.

.

.

.

That's right

33%

So what if we put another color in?

Purple perhaps.

Then each will have 25% chance to appear.

You probably know by now what I am trying to say.

The chance becomes lower (33 -> 25)

This creates a fundamental problem

Where the main strategy becomes

Vertical stacking on 1 thing and ignoring adding more

I tested different gameplay around a sequence made from random pulling

I decided that this core mechanic has to be replaced

Another thing I want to say

I am in a position where I have to look for a new job

So the current new direction for me as a game developer:

  • Make a game that no one has ever seen

-> Make a game that is simple and can be finished in a reasonable amount of time

Thanks to previous failed attempts

The new design goal will focus on these principles:

  • Everything in the build must be considered, regardless of build variety

  • Everything in the build must stack on top of each other

Thank you for reading
