addedSettingAfter some time back in Pareho, you’ll receive news of some new, strange material no one has yet to see. As a blacksmith, you think you can recreate it synthetically and make equipment out of it. But how?
changedSkill-Based CraftingYou craft equipment in your workshop using your ol’ trusty workstations. Each workstation has its own minigame; how you do in these minigames will determine the quality of your creations . As you level up your crafting skill, you may opt to skip playing these minigames, but at the cost of lower quality items. Will you commit to making the best or play with higher numbers? That is up to you!
changedShopkeepingDone crafting? Put items on display shelves and sell them in your shop! You can price items by quality and adjust them accordingly based on customer demand. Open your shop and watch as customers start pouring in. When customers are ready to buy, proceed to the counter and they’ll checkout their items. Be mindful, though: as long as the shop is open, you won’t be able to do anything else. You gotta watch out for possible thieves!
changedRecipe Discovery + Material ShoppingWhen you’re not busy crafting and selling, you gotta keep your material stock somehow. Purchase wood from the woodcutter, order ores and ingots from the mining office and buy monster parts from the town fair. You can experiment with your materials through versatile recipes . Some materials will only be available in a certain season, you may not have access to a favorite material all the time. Explore various combos and see which combinations result in the best (and cheapest to make) equipment.
changedHagglingEverybody’s trying to get the best deal, including you, that’s for sure! Customers may sometimes haggle if they want better prices from you . Similarly, if you’re struggling with money and need to restock, you can haggle with other merchants . As your sales skill improve, you may get better success getting cheaper materials or higher profit from those around you.
changedShop ReputationAs you master your craft, your customers will surely expect more from you. They may start demanding better quality items and/or cheaper prices . It’s up to you how you’ll keep the balance: to fame and profit or to mass appeal?

You may be wondering what exactly Craggenrock is about and I’m here to answer some of those burning questions you may have.

Setting

In the game, you play as a young blacksmith, Arlo, who has just returned to the island where he spent his apprenticeship. This island is currently the only island left in the world infested by monsters after some worldwide disaster. Being an important source of ores, mining companies hired adventurers to get rid of the monsters in the island so that they can resume their operations. Our Arlo received news of his former master passing away and decided to return to the town of Pareho, taking over as the sole blacksmith providing equipment to the adventurers.

After some time back in Pareho, you’ll receive news of some new, strange material no one has yet to see. As a blacksmith, you think you can recreate it synthetically and make equipment out of it. But how?

Features

Skill-Based Crafting

You craft equipment in your workshop using your ol’ trusty workstations. Each workstation has its own minigame; how you do in these minigames will determine the quality of your creations. As you level up your crafting skill, you may opt to skip playing these minigames, but at the cost of lower quality items. Will you commit to making the best or play with higher numbers? That is up to you!

Shopkeeping

Done crafting? Put items on display shelves and sell them in your shop! You can price items by quality and adjust them accordingly based on customer demand. Open your shop and watch as customers start pouring in. When customers are ready to buy, proceed to the counter and they’ll checkout their items. Be mindful, though: as long as the shop is open, you won’t be able to do anything else. You gotta watch out for possible thieves!

Recipe Discovery + Material Shopping

When you’re not busy crafting and selling, you gotta keep your material stock somehow. Purchase wood from the woodcutter, order ores and ingots from the mining office and buy monster parts from the town fair. You can experiment with your materials through versatile recipes. Some materials will only be available in a certain season, you may not have access to a favorite material all the time. Explore various combos and see which combinations result in the best (and cheapest to make) equipment.

Accepting Jobs and Issuing Orders

When you're feeling confident about your skills, you can accept jobs straight from adventurers. Craft their preferred items and turn them over before deadlines. Similarly, if you need some materials that aren't available anywhere, you can issue orders to adventurers to get them for you.

Haggling

Everybody’s trying to get the best deal, including you, that’s for sure! Customers may sometimes haggle if they want better prices from you. Similarly, if you’re struggling with money and need to restock, you can haggle with other merchants. As your sales skill improve, you may get better success getting cheaper materials or higher profit from those around you.

Shop Reputation

As you master your craft, your customers will surely expect more from you. They may start demanding better quality items and/or cheaper prices. It’s up to you how you’ll keep the balance: to fame and profit or to mass appeal?

Random Events

Be on the lookout for events happening in Pareho. After all, the town is evolving and monsters are still on the island. Accidents may happen in the mines. Monsters’ activities rise and fall with the seasons and adventurers may get better hauls. These events can influence the availability, supply and prices of materials you need.

Craggenrock Crafting

Test your skills as a blacksmith and workout the recipe to recreate this unusual material no one knows much about. Each playthrough will feature a unique combination. How will yours turn out?

The Developer and Development Status (So Far)

I am Ardeimon and I am currently developing the game solo. I conceptualized Craggenrock around 5 years ago (as of this writing) and I hope Craggenrock will turn out great as my first game on Steam.

Currently, Craggenrock is nearing its alpha stage. The core systems are there (the crafting and selling) and I’m currently focused on adding the other features. I will be releasing a playable demo soon once things are up, so be on the lookout!

If you’re interested in seeing more about the game as it is being developed, you can check out Craggenrock on Twitter. Join Craggenrock’s Discord server if you want to be one of the first few people to try it out. You can also check my Twitter for small dev updates.

Will be posting more updates soon.

Thank you and see you!
