If it runs smoothly for you, then the current build on steam should run well for you also! Its also a chance to try out some of the core gameplay to see if you enjoy. Keep in mind the current build has had a lot more improvements like upgrades, enemies, balancing, weapons, UI, etc. But still, it should help you get a feel for if it's worth your cash or not.
