Corrupted Demo Update #1 is here!!

Hi everyone and welcome to the first update for the demo! I hope you are enjoying your adventures so far! This update focuses on improving many widespread things for the whole demo experience.

addedThis update focuses on improving many widespread things for the whole demo experience. Including better light in the sewers, making the first boss fight a bit more balanced, a newly added side quest including a new interior map, and creating a smarter enemy AI! Let's take a look at it all shall we?:)
addedCutscenes that details the place where the bridge will appear. Adding dialogue can be a easy way of making things more clear. I also created one specifically for when you have completed the two tasks you will need in order for it to appear (Which is toggling the handle and completing the puzzle to toggle the second handle) Which shows simply that the bridge is now there ready for you to walk on!
removedSome also expressed some concern over that it felt overwhelming with the big sewer depths area having two puzles in a row so for that I decided to remove the second one of these. Afterall I understand all players do not enjoy puzzles that much so I think this was something that those players will appreciate.
changedI am not fully done with the changes for the sewer maps yet but I am sure these changes is a great step in the right direction and I hope the players who have had some concerns can feel rest assured on this.
addedThe Sewers area has been updated with new lighting for better visual appeal! Aditionally I have also made it more clear during your first time there what you should do through some small cutscenes.

Even with the right items included in your pocket I could clearly sense that it felt really punishing for a first boss battle. Which some players have also mentioned. I have therefore implemented some small changes like reducing the Doctor's health with 300. But also removed one of the enemies from this battle. Which means the battle now consists of 2 Guardsmen, then one Red Guardsmen and lastly the Doctor. (Previously 3 Guardsmen at the start). Other things I did was also placing out some chests throughout the maps! Collecting the items from these will certainly make it easier beating up your targets.

Sewers Area Many people have expressed their love for this particular part of the demo with it's funky music and puzzles. There was however some concerns over that it was hard to navigate through for the first time. As a developer it is important for me to take this feedback seriously so I came up with the start of some changes including these things:

Boss Battle balancing

Newly added side quest

There is now a mechanic in the homeslum area close to where Alvin's house is located. He is a very skilled worker and is known as the creator of the Robot dog of the model "F1-D0". The intention with the robot was originally to protect the people living in the slums from dangerous people. That was what he thought they where going to be used as at first before he delivered them to the government.

What ended happening was that they unfortunetly was used with an ill intention. Including scaring the people to prevent free movement in the slums. All acording to the propaganda which claims the people from the slums of being violent extremists.

In this side quest it is your mission to defeat some of the last units walking arround in the neighborhoods and after that bring back their valuable parts back to the creator himself.

If you pay close attention you might also notice that I have added a little question mark to clarify what NPCs that has a side quest waiting for you!

Showcasing a battle with a robot dog! Make sure to fight it with both Alvin and Tommy in the beginning as they can be a challenging enemy in the start.

Smarter enemy AI

  • From now on the enemies will make smarter choices. For example if they are in danger and are starting to get low on HP and have a healing attack they will use that. Or if you (their target) is getting low on HP they will most likely use an attack on that specific enemy. This means (hopefully) that pressing attacks without thinking will be more punished in those scenarios because it will likely be the case that you won't survive because of them using abilities that are ineffective at those times.

  • This might not be noticeable for some but my hope is that it will bring some sort favour for those who choose to get more interested in strategic thinking. Which is my goal.

Yeah and the last bit of this update I wanted to just show a bit of a sneak peak into what's coming. This is art of an upcoming enemy that will be specific for the sewers area.
