Corpus et Spiritus changes
Dear Alchemists,
We are very happy to announce the release of a brand new demo of Corpus et Spiritus, right in time for Steam Next Fest! We have done a lot of balancing to make the game more fun and more accessible. There are a bunch of new cards, some talismans that have changed, and we've fine-tuned the mechanics of the game.
We've also made a brand new trailer for this update, check it out:
As you probably noticed, the Next Fest has started! It means it is time to play demos, and we sure hope you'll give Corpus et Spiritus a try. If you like it, please share it with your friends! For a small team like us (hi, we're Adrian and Théo! 👋), word of mouth has a huge impact and would greatly help us reach new people. So, spread the love! ❤️
Play the demo, leave a comment, wishlist the game, and most importantly: ✨️ have fun! ✨️
Changelog - Next Fest Update
Gameplay
The ingredients of Transmutation recipes are always shown, only the outcome is discovered after trying the recipe at least once.
The Homunculus no longer asks for Vitality in its deals — Vitality is only used to refuse deals.
Deals have been reworked, they no longer offer metals, actions or card draw, they only offer cards and talismans. The rarity of offered items has been rebalanced.
Starting experience and intelligence have been increased to 6.
The cost of refusing a deal is now never reset, and grows with each refusal.
Rage now increases at the start of each turn, and not when you refuse a deal. It is reset when you reach a knowledge threshold. So essentially, you have 7 turns to reach each threshold or you lose.
Quality of life
Some parts of the workshop have been disabled in the demo. You'll have to buy the full game to get them again! 🙂
You can now click the Homunculus to get out of the Deal view.
The Homunculus knock animation won't play anymore after you've opened the deal view.
Content
The "discard" mechanic has been removed entirely, as players struggled to understand it, and differentiate it from recycling. Some cards and talismans that played around it now do the same thing but with destroying, and many others have simply been removed.
We're reworked a whole bunch of cards and talismans. This new demo has less content than the previous iteration, to make the discovery experience more streamlined.
There are less cards that give vitality, but you gain 4 vitality when you reach a knowledge threshold.
