Cornucopia® changes
Major Update 9.0 - New Perspectives!
It's been a while since the last update. This one is packed with major systems and fixes. I meant to release it in August, but I kept finding more things to improve! I'm excited about the road ahead. Update 9.0 is a massive visual and mechanical overhaul. I've added a classic top-down camera mode for that nostalgic farming feel, plus a living water system with primitive swimming. The world now follows a complete celestial cycle with moon phases, eclipses, and auroras. Farming is deeper with an adjusted NPK nutrient system, and fishing now reacts to the weather and lunar cycles. On top of that, you'll find major Quality of Life improvements like Quick Play, Arachnophobia Mode, smoother controller snapping, and a huge list of bug fixes.

📸 Camera System
We added a top-down orthographic camera view for those who prefer the classic farming game look.
Use the new Camera Button on your hotbar to cycle presets.
Dial in your exact angle in the settings menu.

🌊 Dynamic Water
Water is now alive and interactive.
Reactive Waves: Respond to current weather conditions.
Ripples: Mouse ripples appear when you touch the surface.
Reflectivity: Changes based on the weather.
Atmosphere: Underwater fog adjusts dynamically.
- MovementSwim upward using the new buoyancy jumping.
Camera: Smoothly transitions above and below water.
Primitive Swimming: No more unnecessary drowning. Water transparency also changes when you go underwater to improve visibility.

🌙 Celestial Systems
Sun & Night
There is now a sun sprite in the sky. Shadows move with it throughout the day. We significantly improved daylight brightness and sky colors. Nighttime Update: We also adjusted nighttime colors and brightness levels to look better and improve visibility.
Moon Phases
The moon follows a 28-day cycle with new sprites for each phase. The phase updates at 06:00 each day.

Days 15-17: Full Moon
Days 18-21: Waning Gibbous

Eclipses
Lunar Eclipses (Blood Moon) Time: 21:00 - 03:00
Spring Day 15-16 in odd years (Year 1, 3, 5...)
Fall Day 15-16 in even years (Year 2, 4, 6...)
Solar Eclipses (Darkened Sky) Time: 10:00 - 14:00
Summer Day 15 in odd years
Winter Day 15 in even years
Aurora Borealis
Northern lights appear between 20:00 and 05:00. The first night of every season is guaranteed to have an aurora.
- WinterBest chance (92% on new moons, 6% on random nights).
Full Moons: If no eclipse occurs, aurora chance is 3x normal.
🌱 NPK Nutrient System
Every seed now requires Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium. Growth times remain the same, but you must now balance nutrients. Soil Preferences:
Loamy: Rooted crops (carrots, potatoes, beets)
Sandy: Leafy crops (lettuce, kale, cabbage)
Clay: Plump crops (tomatoes, melons, peppers)
Silty: Fibrous crops (beans, peas, corn)
♻️ Compost Overhaul
We have re-categorized every compostable item. You can even compost cooked food now! Basic Compost
Nitrogen: Plant Fibre, Plant Material
Phosphorus: Kelp, Seaweed, Sea Moss, Nori, Sea Grapes, Algae
Potassium: Spongy Material
Quality Compost
Quality Nitrogen: Flowers, herbs, mushrooms, root vegetables, leafy vegetables
Quality Phosphorus: Berries, tree fruits, melons, plump vegetables
Quality Potassium: Manure, meat, eggs, milk, cheese, fish, seafood, and every cooking recipe
⚔️ Tool Damage & Criticals
Damage Scaling
Basic tools: 1 damage
Iron tools: 2 damage
Orichalcum tools: 3 damage
Critical Hits Crit chance is tied to skill levels (5% per level, max 50% at Level 10).
Crits deal 2x damage.
Scythe Crits: 1.5x vegetable yield.
Hoe Crits: 2x soil quality.
Hoe efficiency also scales soil quality: Basic (1.0x), Iron (1.5x), Orichalcum (2.0x).
🍀 Luck & Progression
Luck Stat: Affects rare drops (80% effectiveness, activates at 5 luck).
Playtime Bonus: +0.5% drop bonus per hour played (capped at +20%).
Mining: Iron rocks now guarantee iron ore, with a 35% chance for a second drop.
🎮 Controller Snapping Improvements
We completely overhauled the controller snapping system. UI navigation is smooth, predictable, and prevents getting stuck.
⏩ Quick Play Mode
A new option on the title screen allows you to skip character customization and the intro sequence. You will automatically receive the Rename Yourself and Rename Your Farm cards to customize later.
🎣 Fishing Improvements
Fishing now responds dynamically to the environment.
Moon Phase Bonuses
New Moon: +50% rare fish, +8% treasure
Waxing Crescent: +30% treasure, +5% larger fish
First Quarter: +25% XP, +10% all fish
Waxing Gibbous: +100% legendary, +40% rare
Full Moon: +25% all fish, +50% legendary, 15% bait savings
Waning Gibbous: +1 size tier, +30% rare
Last Quarter: -50% trash, +30% uncommon
Waning Crescent: 40% bait savings, +20% common
Weather Bonuses
Rain: +40% common, +15% treasure
Thunder: +100% legendary, +60% rare, 5% instant catch
Fog: +50% mysterious fish, easier minigame
Blizzard: +80% rare, +100% ice fish
Eclipse Bonuses
Solar: +200% rare, +150% legendary, +100% treasure, guaranteed legendary first catch.
Lunar: +50% all fish, +200% legendary, +100% rare, Eclipse Variant fish, guaranteed legendary on 5th catch.
✨ Quality of Life
Settings menu reorganized.
Shop UI now indicates "Buy 1" or "Buy 10" (Controller and Mouse).
- New Save & Load ScreensWe added helpful gameplay tips and slick new animations for both saving and loading.
Clearer and improved NPC Interaction Hints.
Vending machines for chicks, cows, and horses added to Veggie Barn.
Main story, Gemstone, and Naomi quest markers added to the map.
Playtime tracking added to save files.
Cursor size adapts to camera distance.
Character name minimum reduced to 2 characters (was 3).
Added non-pixelated font option.
Chinese translation added for crafting GUI.
New signs added at the flower farm entrance.
♿ Accessibility
Arachnophobia Mode: Replaces spider boss with an alternate model.
When in Arachnophobia mode, spiders won't appear throughout the game. Even the spider boss is replaced with a fun new boss.
Reflection slider works properly now.
⚙️ Gameplay Changes
Start cutscene instructions are clearer.
Cutscenes trigger manually instead of jarring auto-starts.
Arcade slot machine is more fun to play.
Aderly the Wizard is available from the start of the game at his windmill.
Winter visits occur on Day 7 (non-progression mode).
Old mines accessible after Naomi's hideout (progression mode).
Munger's throwing ball letter requires 7 consecutive feeding days.
Avalanche effect restricted to lava caves only.
Boss HP adjusted (Bosses 3-5 buffed).
Naomi's dialogue refined for enemy areas.
Granary level 2 trigger area enlarged.
Info sign added for closed old mines.
Saw and furnace removed from storage shed (now in tutorials).
Rare crafting materials now occasionally appear at the general store.
New icons for seed types.
Clearer descriptions for processing fixtures.
Improved skill page hover info.
Controller shows checkmark for brushed/milked animals.
Dress button is more visible in character customization.
Steam train achievement is now attainable from the title screen.
Easter Egg: Chance of Alien News Broadcast depending on the weather.
