Cookie Clicker but You Type changes
what up typing nation. Devon here. the legend of cookie clicker but you type goes like this:
tech enthusiast highschooler wants to make games, but his only experience programming is in the block-based drag and drop situation. rats. simultaneously he is trying to learn to type faster. you know, the right way. not just by using both of his index fingers one at the time. typing practice is boring, he thought. he follows a gorillian unity tutorials before ultimately creating his first project. cookie clicker but you type is born.
a few years later he is coerced by some friends to publish it on steam. wouldn't that be cool? turns out, it was! he felt fulfilled knowing that people all around the world had played his game, and improved their typing skills, even just a little bit.
weeks went by, months, years. he became distracted by schoolwork, job searching, life things, things and life. all the while, typists worldwide continued to play cookie clicker but you type, and became frustrated with the game's many issues. 'it only takes about an hour to become unplayable,' one player thought. 'the falling letters make me nauseous,' thought another.
fresh out of college, the developer sat down and thought. he wondered what was truly important to him, and when he felt the most fulfilled, content. it was then that he decided he needed to right his wrongs and provide his player base the update that they have needed for years...
This update aims to make cookie clicker but you type feel polished, more complete. It addresses many problems fans - and also haters - have had since the game's release. Here's a rundown of what's changed:
the typing experience is enhanced to feel much more satisfying and rewarding
the upper bound of how many keys you can get is MUCH bigger than before. like, I would be very surprised if anyone actually reached the maximum number of keys. no more integer overflow/crashing after 30 minutes of playing.
the words you are given are like, regular words now. there used to be some crazy words in there that kind of interrupted the flow of typing. no bueno.
- some buffs/nerfsstreak upgrades are much better than before. tournament viable, even. this just makes all the upgrades actually worth buying, and also incentivizes people to not miss a letter! upgrade pricing has changed slightly to adjust the progression of the game
there is more/better explanation of what is going on. I removed the terrible "how to play" section. what a disgrace that was.
you can now disable the falling background letters for a cleaner, more minimalist look
OPTIONS! change the volume, screen resolution / fullscreen settings, etc.
you can now see your average keys per second and words per minute!
That's it for now typing nation... Stay tuned for more.
And we all lived type-ily ever after.
