addedThe fifth season of Sunday Night Fights came to a close yesterday with an explosive series between BartonPL and OMGPOP! for the grand prize. The finals went down to the last game, with BartonPL winning the best-of-five and winning the biggest prize in Company of Heroes tournament history. Prior to his victory I exchanged emails with BartonPL for the following interview: Q: What was the first RTS or strategy game you’ve ever played? A: One of first strategy game that I played was Warcraft 2 . Q: What was your first experience with either Company of Heroes or Company of Heroes 2? A: Well, first of all I won Company of Heroes in polish PC magazine and I thought that it's another CoD ( Call of Duty) or Battlefield , not worth playing it, but I decided to give it a try and I started campaign. I was so surprised to see RTS game about WW2, then I played many many ranked games because I didn't enjoy playing skirmishes on Scheldts or compstomps. That's how my CoH career began. Q: You’re known for utilizing a lot of different strategies in CoH2 . Do you feel that your diversity is what helped you reach the finals? A: Before each Sunday I watched my opponents replays to see what's their Build orders, cap orders, favorite docs, best maps. I tried to adjust my strategy to their style. CoH is all about analyzing your and enemy moves and choices, if you fail then you lose, you just can't play with the same scheme and strategies each game, that's why I like to to test new ideas for my strategies before some serious games. Did it helped me to reach finals? probably yes, in my Semi-final games vs AndyisRIPPIN I used two different Build orders with Soviets, when one fails you must used another, Road to Kharkov looked good for Counter-attack doctrine, with Germans it was a different story, I was lucky in both games. Q: As a spectator what’s been your favourite game of the tournament to watch? A: To be honest, game 4 of Semi-final vs AndyisRIPPIN, first time I fell that I'm fighting on Eastern front and had to grab all possible weapons around the map to win, even Jason had to do a break for piss! :P Q: Why do you play CoH 2 ? A: CoH1 was a dead game when it moved to Steam, CoH2 is a future for CoH series, although there's many things that I dislike in CoH2 I still hope it's going in right direction, also I believed that I can become best CoH2 player and win $$$ in tournies like SNF. Will I play CoH2 after SNF finals? If I win then yes, with main prize which is a cool laptop I could stream on my own. The Company of Heroes development team would like to thank all the competitors who took part in this season of Sunday Night Fights . It was a better tournament for your participation, and we're glad to see such excitement and passion around the game. Thanks also to AmiPolizeiFunk, Marcus and the entire team behind Sunday Night Fights whose long hours of work helped to put on the biggest tournament in Company of Heroes history.
