Gameplay
addedHey crew, Cold Engine is now available on Steam as a Playtest. Anyone can request access and play the current build. We want to be clear about one thing: we did not choose Playtest because Cold Engine is “less than a demo”. The current build can be played from start to finish. You can go through the whole experience, see what we were trying to capture, and tell us where it works, where it breaks, and what stayed with you after playing. That feedback matters a lot to us right now. While working on Cold Engine, and while listening to people who played early versions, we started seeing a different side of the project’s potential. Something in the experience felt like it could grow in a more interesting direction. So we decided not to lock this release into the Demo format. Instead, we are shifting our focus toward a new version of the project, under a new name. We are not ready to reveal that name yet. We want to give it a proper announcement later. For now, what we can say is this: we want to take the experience Cold Engine was built around and make it more intentional, more layered, and more interesting to share with friends. This will not be just “Cold Engine, but multiplayer”. We are interested in something where being together actually changes the experience. Exploring strange places as a group. Getting separated. Arguing over bad decisions. Finding things someone else would miss. Creating those weird little stories that only happen when you are not alone. That is the direction we are moving toward. The current Cold Engine Playtest is still important for us. It helps us understand what should be carried forward, what should change, and what people actually feel while playing it. So if you have time, please try the Playtest. Play it, finish it, poke at it, and send us your thoughts. Feedback is welcome in the Steam discussions. If you want to follow what comes next and maybe be among the first playtesters for the future version, follow the Steam page and keep an eye on future announcements. Follow our Discord community for further updates and send to us your feedback, thought and ideas! https://discord.gg/VqNzJb922J Thanks for sticking with us. This is a course change, not a stop!
