addedWelcome to the monthly update for Cloudwalkers! October is a super exciting month for Cloudwalkers, so let's delve into what's new!
removedCloudwalkers is Moving to Unity! One of the major benefits of Unity is that I no longer need to write the entire thing in pure raw code! Unity has a graphical editor for some things, unlike Pygame. Although you do still script some things. Unity also has much better performance, is capable of much better graphics and animations, built in physics, and in the future I could port my game to consoles, mobile or even web with Unity!
addedCloudwalkers is Moving to Unity!Switching from Pygame to Unity has a huge downside though. I will have to remake the game entirely from scratch in Unity based off of the Pygame version, which was getting pretty far. The blessing is that I switched now before it got even bigger and took more effort to port. That is the reason I have cancelled the 2025 release, because porting will take a long time to complete, and I still have to add the other many features I was going to put in the Pygame version once porting is complete. I have already started the porting process, and it is coming along very well. I will also take this time to entirely remake the graphics for the game, so they will be much cleaner.
changedCloudwalkers is Getting a Discord Server! That's right. Cloudwalkers is finally getting a public Discord server! You will be able to talk to each other about the game, give me any ideas, and keep up to date with all the announcements! It will, Lord willing, be going live this Wednesday. I have already got the roles together, and I just have to work on a few more things before it is live. I would really appreciate if you joined it. Even one person makes a difference and helps encourage me to keep going. Being a solo indie game dev is not an easy task.
changedRebrandingI am currently in the process of rebranding my company, Eclipse Gaming, into Eclipse Gaming US. Mainly because the domain I purchased was eclipsegamingus.com , but also for various other reasons. Really the only change I can think of right now is that the YouTube channel will be updated to reflect the change.
changedYoutube Channel ChangesSome of you may have noticed that my YouTube channel, @eclipsetech514, was taken down. I will now be posting my YouTube videos for Cloudwalkers on @EclipseGamingUS. The videos from the old channel will not be reposted. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Welcome to the monthly update for Cloudwalkers! October is a super exciting month for Cloudwalkers, so let's delve into what's new!
Cloudwalkers Will not be Releasing This Year
After much consideration, I have decided I will not be releasing Cloudwalkers this November. I know this may upset some people, but I have thought deeply about it and reached the conclusion that it is not best. The only place I remember putting the November release window was on the @eclipsetech514 youtube channel. In fact, it will not be releasing anytime this year. I sincerely apologize for this. I don't like it any more than anybody else does.
Cloudwalkers is Moving to Unity!
After much consideration, I have decided to move Cloudwalkers to Unity! Originally, I was building it in Pygame, which is a low-level game development framework in Python. It is great for prototyping, but I finally realized that my game would not be able to grow as large as I had wished for it in Pygame. This is why I finally decided to switch! I considered other engines too, but I concluded that Unity was the best fit.

Rebranding
I am currently in the process of rebranding my company, Eclipse Gaming, into Eclipse Gaming US. Mainly because the domain I purchased was eclipsegamingus.com, but also for various other reasons. Really the only change I can think of right now is that the YouTube channel will be updated to reflect the change.

There are many more things I could share, but it would make the article too long. I am very excited for all the changes coming to Cloudwalkers this month, and I can't wait to share more in the future!
God Bless,
Eclipse Gaming US
