Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the first Clash of Command Dev Blog! We’ll be using these updates to keep you up to date with all of our progress as we bring Clash of Command to life. This is a quick rundown on our progress over the past few months.

No snazzy gifs or anything for this update, as it’s all backend server stuff. We’ll get some of that stuff to you all at some point.

One of the core pillars of Clash’s design is team vs team combat, which is why we’ve chosen to begin work here.

The first thing we needed to do here was to allow players to login and create an account. This will allow you to do things like Find a Game in the Lobby, Join a Game, and Load a Game. This is all up and running on our internal testing system. There’s a few more things to iron out on Account Creation, but we had enough to get started, So that was step 1 done! (until of course we need to come back and polish things up here)

Next up was the online lobby. This has proven to be a bit of a bear but will currently allow you to Join a Game by choosing which side of the conflict you want to join (USA or CSA). Then you’re able to select a Commander and Ready Up (this tells the system that you’re set and ready to play).

After that we moved onto Loading a game. This is where you are able to filter out all of the games you’re currently playing and to get that particular set of game files, download them, and launch that match, so you can review the results of the last turn, and then plan orders for the next.

Next up is tying these separate server functions together into a workable experience for you all.
